Re: "Fake News" warning.
quote:
Warning to the rightwing: FAKE NEWS!
Everybody complains about "FAKE NEWS"!
Why can't people just agree that the corporations we call our "new channels" have their politicians they like or dislike?
I am about as pro-immigration as one can get, and I have no trouble admitting that CNN & Jeff Zucker will be inclined to be critical of Trump (partly) over that issue. They don't base their "mood" on the immigration issue alone, as Romney was even more anti-immigration (in 2012) than Trump, but he got very decent treatment from the CNN part of the media. It is complicated, and frankly the center/moderate (mainstream) media has become more pro-immigration in recent years than in the past, for whatever reasons.
CNN does have an anti-Trump "mood" among its visible employees. Where does it come from exactly (Zucker alone? Or various factors)?
The media has often had hosts and journalists who express views, but don't actually tell you who they will ultimately vote for (Endorsing a party or candidate used to be seen as a "conflict of interests", even among those journalists with clear ideologies, because it would cause the journalist to be forced to spend energy on heavily partisan-slanted work which would compromise good journalism).
Now:
There have always been opinions. Now there has become an outright intensity in expressing opinions (necessarily) COMBINED with an outright erosion of the thin-line preventing the hosts & journalists from letting you know how they want you to vote. It has led to a lot of (wasted) creative energy, among our media hosts & journalists, devoted to defending and justifying the quasi (if not outright) political endorsements and opposition. "News" is going to clearly have its "good guys" and "bad guys" to report on, with all of the necessary energy devoted to justification of the classification.
(Some will just say "the media is being more honest", now, instead of "pretending to be fair" in the past. I don't know what to say about the change; is it good or bad? It has its ups and downs.)

Hey Bernie, Here's Your VP
Killer Mike is dead-on. I'll let Nina Turner herself show why:
Consider a few more suggestions:
Treasury: Elizabeth Warren (everyone's second choice for President, including me, if she accepts})
Commerce: Andrew Yang
Homeland Security: Julian Castro
Defense: Tulsi Gabbard (serve Hillary and her McCarthyism right)
Attorney General: Kamala Harris
Press Secretary: Marianne Williamson
Court Jester: Beto O'Rourke
If they misbehave, just have Turner remind them who they work for.

There needs to be strong Democratic leadership in Congress. It might be a better idea to bring in people who are not currently in federal seats.

Re: Hey Bernie, Here's Your VP
Of the several individuals mentioned only two have any intention of remaining in office after 2020, namely Senators Warren (MA) and Turner (OH). Warren's seat is reasonably safe but Turner's is riskier.
If you feel either seat is too valuable to lose, feel free to offer any suggestions, I am fully aware of your concern regarding recapturing the Senate.

Potential VPs for Sanders
Here is a list I just found on YouTube:
Pramila Jayapal
Tammy Baldwin
Nina Turner
Tulsi Gabbard
Abdul El-Sayed
Rashida Tlalb
Andrew Yang
Keith Ellison
Beto O'Rourke
Andrew Gillum
Elizabeth Warren
Ro Khanna
Eliminating currently sitting Senators eliminates Baldwin and Warren as Turner is not currently holding office (my error).
O'Rourke is problematic to say the least.
Current House representatives include Jayapal, Gabbard, Tlaib, and Khanna. Gabbard is not running for reelection, Jayapal represents Seattle, and Khanna represents the South SF Bay. There is little danger of any Republican flipping their seats. Talib's district is less secure
So here is the "safe" list:
Jayapal
Turner
El-Sayed
Gabbard
Yang
Ellison (who is currently AG for MN)
Gilum
Khanna
Julian Castro is a possibility as well, Kamala Harris is a good fit for AG but Ellison is less problematic.
My current choice remains Turner, just watch the video.
Of course, anyone "safe" is also a good choice for the Cabinet. El-Sayed is perfect for Health and Hunan Services.
Any other suggestions? Remember, Bernie is 78 and he just had a heart attack. His VP choice is quite important.

Tulsi Gabbard has announced that she will not run for re-election.

Understandable. One summer or winter in DC would be enough to convince me that Hawaii is much better choice for my life.

Indeed, but it also has to do with the personal attacks.
Glad to see her taking on Clinton with her witch-hunt still not accepting that she lost a winnable election -- and blaming others.
A good VP candidate, she could take on Pence in the debates easily methinks. Nina Turner also.
Harris could also be a good choice

Pete Buttigieg on the Republicans and Trumpism
Mayor Pete Buttigieg had these words in a Boston Globe interview that were aired on Meet the Press today:
quote:
"The impeachment process is based on a constitutional standard and needs to run its course accordingly. I will say that there would be a lot of benefit to Trump and Trumpism getting a resounding, thumping defeat at the ballot box because I think that is what will be required for congressional Republicans to be reunited with their conscience."
And hopefully not just their conscience, though that is most important, but logic and common sense, too.
Pete seems to be closing the gap with front runner Elizabeth Warren in Iowa, but nationally he is polling a distant fourth.

Re: Pete Buttigieg on the Republicans and Trumpism
Buttigieg dropped out of the race for lack of support.
And his comments are ridiculous cconsidering that his entire political worldview is ridiculous.
We have no problem with our conscience on the right, but the Democrats certainly should after three years of trying to invent something to impeach a President for who deserves none of it and should have been supported by all on both sides of the fence because he was fairly elected. The conscience of the Democrats is about as dirty as it's possible to get.

Has-been Haridan Hillary ...
Looks like Hill is considering entering Dem race, thinks she can beat Trump ...
What would happen now is
(a) she would split votes with Biden (good)
(b) become an instant target for Trump to wet his pants over and ignore other candidates (good)
Enjoy

You might want delete this. He did not drop out. Think before spewing your vile hate.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts
"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.
If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?
