Re: Promoting Cautiously. Topic Will Be Moderated.
I have no control over the asterisks, Phat, Percy put them there and he objects when I use misspellings to get around them..
Explain the origins of its use, please, because its so distractingly annoying that it takes away from your central message.

Re: Promoting Cautiously. Topic Will Be Moderated.
Percy ******* words of his own choice if he doesn't **** the way I use them somewhere or other. Since I have no idea where that might be or why he objects I don't know the origin. He doesn't seem to care if he destroys the possibility of *************, he's just out to punish me or whoever else he gives the same treatment. The words are generally ordinary English words, not *********** or insulting words. In general however he does seem to have an ideological bent, punishing words that represent the political view he opposes. I'd rather be ********* myself.
LOL, what's the point if you can just view in peek mode to see what was said???
EvC has basically always been a huge echo chamber and circle jerk for left-leaning ideologues certain of their righteousness. The boot-licking, ass-kissing, lap dogs around here (of which there are many) have license to spew whatever invective they please while you seem to have a different set of rules.
I suspect they'd just do away with you but they must realize that you're the most vocal and active of their detractors. And since they debate for sport its always more fun to argue about Trump than to argue about whether the presidency should go to Sanders or Warren. So, you serve a purpose in the food chain and it has ensured your survival thus far.
Whatever. You're an outsider, as am I. It is what it is.

Re: Promoting Cautiously. Topic Will Be Moderated.
Yes, the Peek function solves the problem but having to use it can be an annoyance
I just don't see the purpose since it entirely defeats the purpose of the censorship to begin with. Seems like its designed to be more of an annoyance than it is a deterrence.
Edited by Hyroglyphx, : No reason given.

Re: Promoting Cautiously. Topic Will Be Moderated.
We're all outsiders.
No, you are definitely an insider -- the usual suspects.
The people who argue against you and Faith argue much more vociferously against each other. You don't lose debates because you're victims. You lose debates because your positions are weak.
That's rich coming from someone who never fleshes out a single idea. You constantly offer what is basically tantamount one-liners. You simply have a lot of fans cheering you on. Don't confuse popularity with the rightness of a position.

Re: Promoting Cautiously. Topic Will Be Moderated.
So now you're being honest with yourself that you're no moderate? Your avatar is false, too.
Compared to you (far left) and compared to Faith (far right) I am as moderate as it gets. The only other moderate I can think of on the forum is Phat.
It's incomprehensible that you don't admit being a fellow traveler with the alt-right and Trump, given that your views so closely align with theirs.
And what view is that, aside from my support of the 2nd Amendment? What position(s) do I hold that aligns so closely with the Alt-Right? We're eking towards Godwin's Law here. If I wanted to reduce you to a Stalinist, all I'd have to do is point out a few similarities and ascribe them to you.
As I've pointed out before, when have I ever shied away from controversy or speaking my mind in the decade + that I've been here??? If I was Alt-Right I would proudly just tell you.
But you and Faith could have a wonderful discussion. Premise: Trump is a wonderful president.
He's not a wonderful president and is in fact one of the worst, of which, I've been very vocal about.
Fertility rates decline as women's rights and education increase, and the answer is immigration, something the right seems firmly against.
And I have stated that immigration is of vital importance to the security of the United States. I am in agreement that the declining birth rate is problematic for the countries experiencing it and that smart, sensible immigration is an excellent way to hedge against it.
You keep saying "the Right" and making associations with me. I'm against Trump, I'm against the outdated concept of a wall, I'm in support of increased legal immigration, etc. You took one thing where I said the way France, Sweden and Germany is doing it is stupid and built an entire false narrative out of it.

Re: Population Decline ... is it a problem?
It is a rational reaction to overpopulation, it doesn't mean it will continue until there is no population. When populations exceed the carrying capacity of their ecology, the population adjusts by reducing population.
I think he means, and I would agree, that what it does to nation states is problematic to their survival. Japan is having a rough go of it and it doesn't take an economist to see how an inverted pyramid with a declining working class can realistically sustain a growing aging population.
China has tried to right the ship by lifting their one-child (male, only) policy. Except there's now a generation of males who have no suitors of the same age because they were systematically exterminated.
It's not only women declining to have children, but men as well, often choosing smaller families than their spouses would like.
This has become very popular among Western societies. In terms of overall population it certainly could be problematic for ecological reasons to not diminish the population. In the shorter term (50 year periods) the decline in population could be bad. The US has been able to buffer against it through immigration. Japan has remained insular and isolationist, to a fault.
Even with the drop in population among many nations, the Malthusian population curve is still increasing. Obviously there is a limit to what the Earth can sustain. Its tough. In either direction there will be existential problems.
