Re: Real???
you did it again!
. . . the flooding depicted in the photo is about what happens when a hurricane such as Irma hits Miami, e.g.
is that b&w photo a real image of Irma or a prediction of what a new Irma-sized storm would look like? LABEL, please. for the stupids, like me.

Sorry, didn't realize the problems Miami is already having with flooding weren't widely known. Here's a CBS News report. The whole report is pretty informative, but I've queued it up to begin at a 5 second portion showing the flooded Miami business district during Hurricane Irma:

Re: Trump Lies Again
Yesterday I predicted that if Trump said anything yesterday it would contain lies. Here's what I said:

I'll make another prediction. I have no idea what Trump will say today, maybe nothing, but if he does make any statement today I predict it will be a lie. I might be walking out on a limb, but I think the odds are well in my favor. Stay tuned.
And of course Trump lied yesterday, here's the tweet.
Of course the people of Iran do not love America, and especially not just after we assassinated a beloved general and ramped up sanctions again.
Trump was at a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, yesterday evening. If I had a full transcript of his comments there I'm sure I could find many lies.

You're getting the wrong news as usual. Fake News. I've been hearing for days about the Iranians protesting against their own government for the attack on the Ukrainian airliner, and yes, thanking Trump for taking out the terrorist they all hated.

You're making up your own reality. Qasem Soleimani was a hero to the Iranian people for planning and implementing operations, terrorist and otherwise, against hated western nations. Iranians as a group are not thanking Trump for assassinating Soleimani, and they definitely do not love Americans. Does "Death to America" have a familiar ring to it? Does your memory go back far enough to remember the storming of our embassy in Iraq only a couple weeks ago: Protesters Attack U.S. Embassy in Iraq, Chanting ‘Death to America’ - The New York Times. The protests were sponsored and instigated by Iran.

Trump Lies Yet Again
This photograph of the 2017 Women's march appears in the National Archives in doctored form:
AbE: When I first posted this message this image from the Washington Post was the doctored version that the National Archives originally displayed, but now it's the original version. I don't know why the change.
Here'a an example of the doctoring. The original form is on the left, the altered from on the right:
Naturally Trump did not order the change personally. It was done by people who merely want to keep their jobs. If Trump ever became aware of an image containing "God Hates Trump" in the National Archives, heads would roll. He rules Washington now with an iron fist. Even low level employees are affected.

Re: Trump Lies Yet Again
I wonder what will happen if and when you find out you've been believing the fake news about Trump as so many others are. It's certainly scary from where I sit to see so many hating him for doing good things that if any other President had done them would have been lauded by your side. I can only hope and pray that the truth will come out. I know you believe you are the one with the truth.
How do you know which of those photos is the altered one or who did it and why does it matter anyway?
Anyway, I just heard the same report again, this time on Townhall Review.com hosted by Hugh Hewitt, but I can't find the story online. May be my own fault, eyes or other reasons. There is reporting about its being a good thing that Soleimani was taken out, but I can't find the stuff about the Iranian protests against the government. Unfortunately you all trust Google to be giving the true news and I certainly have no way to prove you wrong.

Trump's Tweet in Farsi Much "Liked" in Iran
Googled for information about how Trump's tweet in support of the Iranian protestors, which he'd written in Farsi, was greatly "liked" in Iran, and finally found it. As usual I had to wade through all the irrelevant leftist stuff which said nothing at all about his tweets being liked in Iran although that was what I was searching on. Amazing how this obvious censorship of the conservative point of view gets rationalized away here. Anyway I found it in the Washington Examiner:
President Trump's tweet in Farsi expressing support for Iranians protesting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has already earned over 200,000 likes, making it the "most liked Persian tweet" in the social media giant's history, according to a leading think tank adviser.

Re: Social Policies + Capitalism in a Democratic Country
I understood supply side economics to be the idea that demand can be created by supply, sort of an economic "If you build it they will come." (It was actually "he will come," but I never remember it that way.)
That would be my concept of supply side as well. The problem of course is that if you don't have consumers -- people that want and can afford the product -- you end up with a large inventory that won't move until you cut prices ... if then.
Do you remember supply side economics anything like that?
I was in Canada for most of the Reagan/Bush1 era of voodoo economics and its resultant recession.

The difficulty in finding it was not censorship. It was due to the report being horseshit.
Twitter is blocked in Iran. Nobody in Iran liked or retweeted it. Note that your quote didn't say anything about "in Iran". Just standard right-wing deception, and you made just the erroneous assumption they wanted you to. Internet censorship in Iran - Wikipedia.
Note that the leading think tank and the advisor are not identified, though there's no reason for secrecy.

Really? You think maybe someone made a sign reading "God hates {unreadable blur} ", took it to a protest, someone took a photograph, and someone altered a copy of that photograph and changed "{unreadable blur}" to "Trump"? Really?
Anyhow, we know that didn't happen because people wouldn't do that under any circumstances. The one with "{unreadable blur}" is the altered one. Duh.
It's not very important, but it does illustrate our times. It's changing a true historical record into a lie. Just another example of how the administration and the right wing have terrified ordinary people into doing such stupid actions for fear of disproportionate and unearned reaction.

Bush1 was the originator of the term "voodoo economics" in 1980. Bush2 was a supply-sider.

I know, but the term more accurately describes GOP economics.

What products did he supply?

Re: Real???
Sorry, didn't realize the problems Miami is already having with flooding weren't widely known.
A few months ago, PBS played a series about the problems that rising sea levels post to cities and how they are trying to address the problem with each episode dedicated to one of four cities (London, New York City (as I recall), Tokyo (as I recall), and of course Miami.
At present, they've been raising the height of the major streets, which are now well above the sidewalk at this time. They examine the idea of creating a sea wall (as depicted around New York City in sci-fi, such as in The Expanse) or reclaiming land from the sea as in Dutch dikeworks and windmill pump houses. Geology works against them there, since the state is built atop fossiliferous limestone through which water passes as if it's not even there (most of the southern half of the state has an incredibly massive aquifer). Then the well-to-do will start migrating inland to higher ground, displacing the poor communities that already live there, but even that is still just a temporary measure. There's no good solution.

Embrace the change.
There's no good solution.
Close and fill all ground level spaces, convert the roads to canals a la Venice. Particularly appropriate for a town on the west coast of Florida ... cost wise probably about the same as rebuilding inland (and then having to do it again). Also add upper level enclosed automatic walkways & bikeways between buildings.
Embrace the change.
Enjoy
