I move to a new operating system when my computer dies and I buy another used one (whatever OS it has). I re-download and re-install any software that I'm still using, which is about the only updating I do. Any important data is backed up on an external hard drive.

I currently use Windows 7 at the library and Windows 98, XP and Vista at home. I also have a Vic-20 that runs.
