Elie Mystal on Permanent Republican One Party Rule
Added by edit: I just realized the following article is behind a paywall. My apologies.
From the Nation:
Senators Just Sold Out Democracy
I'm not the only one who believes that the Republicans aren't simply try to gain political advantages but actually attempting to institute permanent one-party rule. Elie Mystal has a short opinion piece pointing out their game plan.
Their solution to the demographic changes that will soon see us become a majority-minority country is to forge a new theory of government, in which minority white rule can withstand the popular will.
[ Following the provided link takes you to a page that only provides the first couple paragraphs before asking you for money. To read the article instead go to Pardon Our Interruption, scroll down a little, find the link titled "Republican Senators Just Sold Out Democracy", and click on that. This will take you back to the same page, but this time it says that you're using your first of three free articles. ]

Re: Christianity Today on Impeachment -- just another tool of the Left
On the contrary, there were laws broken. And, in addition, you can be impeached without a law being broken.
The laws that were broken were
18 U.S. Code 872: Extortion by officers or employees of the United States.
2 U.S. Code 192, Refusal of witness to testify or produce papers,
18 U.S. Code 610, which covers that crime rather clearly under the title: Coercion of political activity.
r 18 U.S. Code 607, Place of solicitation, and 52 U.S. Code 30121, Contributions and donations by foreign nationals.

Worse than useless wall
Worker threw exception | www.rawstory.com | Cloudflare
quote:
Meanwhile, The Independent reports Smugglers are reportedly helping migrants scale sections of Donald Trump’s multi-billion border wall using $5 ladders.
The ladders are made of rebar, similar to that used in the replacement wall that is costing taxpayers — not Mexico — billions of dollars. So similar that it is hard to detect because they match the rust brown colours of the wall.
The crossings have increased so much thanks to the easily-defeated wall that Border Patrol apprehensions of single adults those most likely to use the ladder method have nearly doubled in the El Paso sector.
In just a few months, from October 2019 to January 2020 Border Patrol agents apprehended 10,030 people, compared with 5,150 in the same period a year ago.

Democrat Goes to Trump Rally and doesn't get beaten up
Anything that can make me laugh these days is very welcome since there's so little I can be happy about. On Sundays at 4 PST I get to hear talk show host Chris Plante who I only recently discovered, and he can make me laugh out loud at his remarks about the Left. Maybe only half a dozen times during his show, but his generally antic monologues are amusing in themselves. Nobody here will appreciate him I suppose but I decided to post a recent program of his anyway because of his topic.
Toward the end he reads an article by a self-described Democrat who decided to attend the Trump rally in New Hampshire and found that they aren't stupid crazy Nazi deplorables but ordinary Americans having a good time and celebrating America. It's not particularly laugh stuff but the rally account is interesting IMHO.

Yeah, no imminent threat
White House Memo Justifying Suleimani Strike Cites No Imminent Threat - The New York Times#
quote:
In a legally mandated, two-page unclassified memo to lawmakers, the White House asserted that the strike that killed Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani was in response to an escalating series of attacks in preceding months by Iran and Iran-backed militias.
The purposes of this action were to protect United States personnel, to deter Iran from conducting or supporting further attacks against United States forces and interests, to degrade Iran’s and Quds Force-backed militias’s ability to militias’s ability to conduct attacks, and to end Iran’s strategic escalation of attacks, said the report, which was transmitted on Friday to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
So, not legal.

Trump broke none of those. But you might look at some Democrats, some in the House perhaps, for those who did.

Re: Trump Rally Streaming
The picture on the front isn't from the rally. But yes he is a kind of comedian, he can be very funny at times. I only saw a few minutes of his talk, mostly watched the crowd gathering and some of the interviews before the program started. They filled the Coliseum, 15,000 capacity, with thousands outside who couldn't get in.

Millions. Billions. It was the largest gathering of human beings in the history of the universe.

Re: Trump Rally Streaming
What rally? Where?

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts
"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.
If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

Re: Trump Rally Streaming
Looks like the video changed to some other Fox story. The rally was last night in Arizona. Since they don't get much coverage if any in the "real" news I thought I'd post it. He always fills stadiums and coliseums to overflowing by thousands and he has rallies very frequently. Pleasant cheerful crowds too. True Americana.
