Cuomo mentioned a very good reason for expanding testing to include blood tests for antibodies to identify people who unknowingly, because they had a mild case, contracted the disease and recovered. These people are immune and can return to work. Since somewhere north of 96% of people recover, they could be a valuable and growing source of manpower while we attempt to keep the economy in a healthy enough state so that when all this is over it will only be a matter of recovery rather than rebuilding.

Stardew Valley - fun little time waster :-)
Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

I've been trying to find information about this online and found plenty of tentative cautious reports but what I've been hearing on Sean Hannity is something near-miraculous with these malaria drugs for treating Covid-19. I can't find those stories, and my eyes give out too son to continue looking longer, so I'm going to go ahead and post this anyway and hope more information comes out soon along these lines or someone else can track it down.
It was disturbing to hear Hannity discussing them without getting into the very dangerous side effects I posted on in Message 114 where I originally brought up these Quinine-based drugs. Trump and others had been saying they can improve or even cure Covid-19. Today I've been hearing how beneficial they are. A woman reported on the Hannity show that she had underlying medical conditions that made the virus particularly dangerous and one of these drugs, I forget which, cleared up her problem breathing. Hannity had on another guest, a man whose name I forget, sorry again, whose story was that he was told he was going to die of the virus until they gave him one of these drugs. He had been sick for nine days and within ten hours of being given the drug he felt like he'd never been sick at all. Hannity kept referring to a Dr. Zelensky or Zelenko who he said claims something like 250 cures with the drug, but I can't find him online either. May have the name wrong though. Doctors Hannity had on the show to discuss it were appropriately cautious about a too enthusiastic use of the drugs because they have serious side effects, but at least during the part of the show I heard they didn't describe those side effects. I mention them in Message 114, mainly encephalopathy with concomitant psychological effects that are confused with PTSD among other things. So all that obviously needs to be taken into account and I wish it had been discussed on this program, but what DID come across is that these drugs sound like they can be borderline miraculous in their effect on this virus. If so, certainly in the very severe cases, those at death's door, those with serious underlying medical conditions, there shouldn't be any reason NOT to use them. The side effects are serious but not lethal and perhaps careful dosing can mitigate them. This COULD be a cure for the serious cases and in the long run bring an end to this pandemic a lot sooner than we'd been hoping. Certainly worth serious thought. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Hi, Faith.
If these things do have an effect on the virus - even if not quite miraculous - that would be good. We already know a lot about these drugs, so essentially a lot of testing has been done. But there still needs to be a lot of testing, to make sure that they really are effective and to determine appropriate doses and such. So don't expect them to be prescribed next week! And if you do find someone willing to sell them, I'd hold off on any buying until and unless they are shown to be suitable treatment and is prescribed by your physician. But [Frederick] Douglass was not gone; he was merely dead. -- David W. If the stories I heard on Hannity are true there have already been enough cases to justify their use on the most serious cases right now, I mean people who would die without even a drastic treatment being tried..

Quinine can be deadly though and it really should be controlled.

Of course the drugs should be controlled and not administered without extremely good reason and extremely good understanding of the drug. But these drugs are used all the time in the treatment of malaria presumably without killing the patient so that experience should be the place to start for dosage. A miracle cure is a lot to ask but there seems to be enough reason to think they are at least helpfuj to make them worth a try IN THE MOST SERIOUS CASES, where the patient is having such severe trouble breathing for instance, death is a certainty unless something is done.
