How To Live With Coronavirus
What You Can Do About Coronavirus Right Now - The New York Times from the NYT contains an enormous amount of information.
I keep harping on the mask issue. The article repeats the advice that people who aren't sick and who aren't caring for someone sick don't need masks, but it equivocates a bit about crowded places like grocery stores. I feel like I've finally seen some reasonable advice about masks. I don't wear a mask to take a walk or play tennis, but I do wear a mask at the grocery store, the pet store, and the pharmacy. The few N95 masks we have won't last forever, and then we'll start wearing my wife's homemade masks.
The article has a lot of advice about what to do at home. They recommend wiping down certain frequently used surfaces to keep them free of virus, but we're not doing any of that stuff because if we go somewhere like the grocery store then when we get home all the clothes go in the wash, we wash our hands with soap and water (our kitchen faucet turns on/off by motion sensing), then take a shower.
We had pizza for dinner last night. We ordered online and I picked it up. I called from outside and asked if they could bring the pizza to the door, which they were happy to do. I put the pizza in the back seat, then brought it into the house and slipped it into a preheated 300° oven for 20 minutes - the cardboard is fine at that temperature. Since 15 minutes at 130 degrees is supposed to render the virus uninfective this seemed more than sufficient. I wiped down the back seat with isopropyl alcohol, and the front seat and steering wheel and miscellaneous things I'd touched just on general principle.
I'll be doing the grocery shopping today after tennis (it's another nice day, high of maybe 60) and I'll be wearing an N95 mask.

Trump Misleads Yet Again
It was probably on Hannity, but yesterday Trump said that the US had perfomed more CV tests than any other country. This is true, but the US is by far the largest country where CV is a current problem. We've performed 600,000 tests, but that only earns us 18th place on the country list of number of tests per 100,000 population.
We're at around 170 tests per 100,000 people, though New York State is way up there at around 630 tests per 100,000. South Korea is at 710 tests per 100,000, and Italy at 600. We've got a ways to go.

Trump says It's GM's fault
GM said they could produce lots of ventilators but now GM says it will only be 6000 and it will be mid to late April.
The man is an idiot!
It's amazing that any industry could retool and totally change products and train the workers in only a few weeks and he is complaining?
Total moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter has no fever and no cough, sniffle has gone but still has total lack of taste and smell. Doctor reckons that she's highly likely to have a very mild form of C19. If correct, she's a very, very lucky girl and is now hopefully safe.
She's a bit stir crazy though as she's in solitary confined to her bedroom trying not to infect her partner. Or to expose him as little as possible.
Dr said something interesting - the less exposure the milder the illness. I can think of scenarios of how that might work but I'm sceptical.

Now that is a nice way to end the working week !
Really pleased to hear that Tangle - good luck for a full recovery.
As an aside, I wonder whether exposure to certain other forms of corona virus in the past may have led to a degree of immunity in some of us, which leads to corvid 19 manifesting itself mildly. In other words, what varieties of cold we’ve caught in the past.
I’m no virologist though. Thoughts from anyone who knows more than me ?

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Hooray! Tell her not to get addicted to soap operas or The Batchelor, though.

Re: Sports Betting Turns to Trump
I'm pretty sure someone must have created a drinking game based on Trump's press conferences.
Something like it during the 2016 campaign. A progressive radio talk show host talked about watching Trump's rallies with friends and they all had to take a drink every time Trump lied. They had to stop it, though. For fear of dying from alcohol poisoning.

REALLY REALLY GOOD NEWS

At the center of the discussion about how to ramp up the production of ventilators is Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and a senior White House aide, who has told people that he was called in two weeks ago by Vice President Mike Pence to produce more coronavirus test kits and who has now turned his attention to ventilators.

I am sure the governments 2 trillion wont finance immune boosting food
Coronavirus colds are quicker passing and more mild if the infected have been consuming vitamin C containing food for a good while before the infection.
How much will you bet me the government clowns YET AGAIN prove they care not one bit about nutrition evidence and results, despite having an unprecedented 2 trillion load to throw around. We should call this 2 trillion dollars an example of the government throwing up the vomit from the disease that THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF should be responsible for.
We should have the right to sue each of our congressmen for damages. Worthless representatives they really are.

Colds don't overflow the morgues of major cities.

Jared "Slumlord Millionaire" Kushner is covered in Season 2 of Dirty Money on Netflix.
Faith was so worked up trying to identify a leading Catholic as the Anti-Christ, when the A-C has been hiding in plain sight right in front of her. It's no coincidence that Kushner owns 666 Fifth Avenue.

Amazing how the immune system sees its need rise to a critical level.
With the government we have, we better get used to fending for ourselves or die.
Thank God this is not MERS.

Re: I am sure the governments 2 trillion wont finance immune boosting food
We have reports of some states constructing temporary hospitals in sports stadiums, etc.
A few days ago, I drove past a local hospital and saw them constructing a large tent-like structure right outside the emergency room entrance. I figured that they were creating extra wards. But then an interviewee on TV mentioned temporary morgues being erected in front of hospitals.
