Re: A Question About Masks
Does the guy in the video recommend healthy people walk around wearing N95 face masks?
No. Dr. Michael Osterholm is saying quite the opposite. The N95 is for healthcare workers in constant close proximity to the infection, not for the general public out on the street. He goes further and says the usual surgical mask we see in public everywhere is not very effective at stopping *you* breathing in the droplets of someone's cough but can be somewhat effective if you are sick as it helps keep *your* cough from spewing out diseased droplets like a shotgun to everyone within 6-8 feet of you.
Is he making recommendations that contradict the official guidelines published by the established representatives of the scientific community?
No. As a member in good standing of that infectious disease discipline Dr. Osterholm helped write those guidelines many years ago in anticipation of the next bug showing up. He, along with the rest of the community, were ignored by this administration until it became clear to the Orange Bastard that his presidency was teetering on the brink of utter failure for being so stupid and slow with COVID-19.
Dr. Osterholm is one of the leading good guys in this disaster.

Re: My Trip to the Grocery Store
Since you are in that older demographic I suggest that if you do not wake up in the morning with a headache and a dry cough that you use bleach and alcohol in a two-to-one mix, wipe down every place you touched when you got home the day before then burn down to house.
If you do wake up with a headache and a dry cough then use bleach and alcohol in a two-to-one mix, wipe down every place you touched when you got home the day before, burn down the house and move into the nearest ICU.
Of course, if you don't wake up the next morning then none of the above will be productive so nevermind.

better than mixing bleach and ammonia
I had alcohol on/in my mind. I missed that one. Talk about squandered opportunities.
Just to make it official ... no, don't do either. This was a joke. It was only a joke.
If it was meant to be serious it would have come from reddit or twitter or Alex Jones.

It has been indefinitely postponed because of COVID-19.

Re: About masks, some examples of extraordinarily bad advice
That's a tough one.
Well, you did ask, so ...
In the working age demographic, whatever that is, COVID-19 will present mild to moderate symptoms for the majority of those who get infected. I’m pretty sure they would rather be exposed, and maybe catch a dose that puts them down for a few days, than lose their only means of income. If sick days are available if needed and quitting is not an option then being at work when not sick is a no-brainer. But that doesn’t help much if there is no job there because Chiroptera and AZPaul3 and a few million others have dropped out of the marketplace.
Those workers who are not sick, the vast majority of them, have no employment without you.
They can always practice social-distancing and take other precautions to minimize infecting others, and themselves, while in public.
I would say, Order away.

Don't suppose they have a few million rolls of toilet paper in the stockpile.

Re: FEMA Director Refuses to be Nailed Down
Also, since the govt is ordering up millions of masks, that is using practically all the manufacturing capacity of the nation. Their priority, as it should be, will be to provide these supplies to hospitals, military.
You and I will not see another N95 or even a standard surgical mask for many months to come.

Re: the relief check
Why? Why are so many folk so unbelievably gullible?
How can folk be so utterly stupid?
They voted for Trump, didn't they?
When you realize how stupid the average American actually is, remember that half the population is stupider than that.

Re: the relief check
Ah, shall we range and play average, mean, median and mode?
Sure, why not.
The mean, median, and mode walk into a Republican bar
The median says "Wow, this place is really skewed to the right!"
The mode was taller than everyone else and got the most looks.
Meanwhile, the mean was overly influenced by outliers and got high off to the side.
