Re: too much quarantine?
It's not so much letting it spread as it is trying to keep it limited to people who aren't as vulernable to it so there wouldn't be all the deaths you are describing. That's the idea. Maybe it's not feasible. Maybe the virus is more lethal than this idea takes into account.

Healthy people die of coronavirus, too. If we run out of respirators more of them will die.

Experts change predictions based on new evidence. That's a good thing.
What other experts are criticizing them? Hannity? Limbaugh?

Re: Could he be stupider?
The germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can't keep up with it ...
I'd like to see this in a wider context.
What is happening in Denver that is different than everywhere else? What question was he answering? Is he really talking Trump Virus or something else?
We know The Bastard's stream-of-consciousness rambling takes many twists and turns when left off-script, and I'm thinking he was *not* talking Trump Virus but responding to something other.
Does anyone have the initial question The Bastard was responding to? Was it really Trump Virus or did the question have some other tack?

Yeah, the "let people die for Wall Street" proposal. Build up immunity with hundreds of thousands of deaths.
Schoolchildren are susceptible, although not much. But they're also great carriers, infecting all their home.

She wouldn't see the results. Only the doctor , the patient, and any other professional involved in treatment.

Re: Chicago area hospital drive-thru tests more people with antibodies than active virus
If he thinks Covid-19 is essentially a flu, he's an ignorant quack. No matter what sheepskins he has.
Flu viruses and coronaviruses are not genetically related. The incubation time of this coronavirus is much longer than flu, making transmission while asymptomatic much more likely. The percentages of severe and critical infections are significant higher for coronavirus. So far, the mortality rate of Covid-19 is much higher than flu (Of course the experts will change their predictions as evidence accumulates.) We have vaccines that block many strains of flu, and nothing for Covid-19.

Re: too much quarantine?
As of now herd immunity requires hundreds of thousands to millions of deaths.
But it's worth it to save Wall Street.
Anyone who says Covid-19 is just a flu is an ignorant quack. See previous message and Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Similarities and differences between COVID-19 and Influenza (that's WHO).

Re: Could he be stupider?
Thank you, JonF.
I did find the full briefing on YouTube and was able to see the full scope of the question and The Orange Bastard’s (OB) answer, and I’m pretty sure he was *not* talking *only* about Trump Virus directly when he was rambling on.
I can imagine that during this crisis Dr. Fauci is giving 101-level classes to OB during which he cited antibiotic resistance as another major problem though not directly related to Trump Virus except that this bug too is, childishly put, a *smart* bug that seeks to thwart our immune defenses.
So OB’s few semi-literate neurons naturally glom onto the antibiotic story when he’s trying to say how much of a problem Trump Virus is because it too, like the bacteria Dr. Fauci told him about, are really really smart and really really invisible. Shades of a 6 year-old trying to comprehend biology.
The tell-tale was when OB tried, and flubbed, his rendition of going into heart surgery and then dying from infection. We all know that such occurrences are not rare due to antibiotic resistance and unrelated to Trump Virus.
So, I’m thinking that OB went into one of his stream-of-consciousness modes and his few semi-literate neurons kept changing lanes without signaling unable to focus on his subject of how complex Trump Virus is without getting sidetracked into his rather elementary-school playground-level knowledge of superbugs and the antibiotic resistance problem.
The original giggle of The Orange Bastard thinking antibiotics relate to Trump Virus is probably not true. In its place we are left with the more dangerous nightmare of watching OB’s childish thought processes in action again.
We’re screwed.

Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

Yeah, New York City doesn't usually resort to mass burial sites during flu season.

Re: Chicago area hospital drive-thru tests more people with antibodies than active virus
All I know is that the phlebotomist in the story reported on the results of her blood samples.
My daughter-in-law is a medical professional, a physician assistant -- in normal hospital life, a PA does all the actual medical work with the patients while the MD is an administrator. She replied to my Facebook message:
quote:
Phlebotomists just draw the blood
Which is exactly what I and others are telling you. The phlebotomist just draws the blood and gives it to the lab technician. The lab tech performs the analysis and gives the results to the physician who interprets the results and reports to whomever (eg, patient, public health agencies). The only way that the phlebotomist would know anything the results would be if the lab tech or physician or public health agency leaked that information back to her, which reduces her knowledge of the results to rumor.
The phlebotomist would be a reliable primary source for information about how much testing she's doing and for her impression of how the test subjects are presenting in general. She is not a reliable primary source for information about the results.
That that article uses the phlebotomist as a primary source instead of using the physician or public health agency makes me suspect the Chicago City Wire.

That's reality. That's how things work. But of course you, in your infinite ignorance, will reject reality yet again.
