Give him a little time than an hour, dude. Not everybody hangs out here full time.
I seriously doubt that there's a conspiracy afoot to cover up Iron Man's suspension, if that's even what's happened.

Hi, MessenjaH!
One of the items on the enhancements list calls for allowing members to change their IDs, but this feature isn't yet planned for implementation. In the meantime, since the Forum Guidelines prohibit registering as more than one ID the only way to change IDs is to send a request to Admin requesting that the old ID be suspended.
This approach has the disadvantage that you can no longer search for all messages from a member who has changed his ID, since the system has no automatic way of knowing what the other ID or IDs were. In the meantime I prefer to minimize the number of messages that get "orphaned" when someone switches to a new ID, and suspending the IDs while a member makes his choice is how I do this.
For the record, here's the copy of the email I sent to Iron Man/prophecyexclaimed. I thought it was just mundane administrative stuff, but people can decide for themselves if they think this was mishandled:
Hi Iron Man!
You are currently registered under 2 member IDs:
Iron Man alivebmx@yahoo.com
prophecyexclaimed prophecyexclaimed@hotmail.com
I understand you had forgotten the password so this is not a problem, but I have suspended the posting privileges for both IDs. Please reply to this email stating which member ID you would prefer to use. The password for the prophecyexclaimed ID has been emailed to the prophecyexclaimed@hotmail.com email address. You can always have your password emailed to you by clicking on the Lost your Password in the dynamic menus under Forums Help, or on the Lost your Password link on the message posting page.

Your brother sent email earlier this afternoon expressing a preference for the Iron Man ID, and I have enabled posting privileges for that ID. I don't normally update the Suspensions and Bannings thread for administrative procedures like this.

Up to reading your message about Iron Man's suspension, I was unaware of it.
Upon further investigation, I discovered that:
1) Iron Man was indeed suspended.
2) His and your IP numbers were exactly the same.
and
3) The only public record of the suspension was your message.
So, apparently you had some sort of personal contact with Iron Man. Just for fun, I thought I'd fish to see what your story on this was.
Cheers,
Adminnemooseus

No, it's not important for there to be a balance of moderators. So what if we wind up with an entirely creationist moderation group?

If a bunch of people choose to wallow around in a cesspool, I'm inclined to think they are all losers.

Skills
I tend to agree with you. It's quite obvious that more than a few people need training in the areas of negotiating, respecting others, and keeping one's cool. It's a good thing we have some good (rational and cool-headed) moderating on this forum. Certainly some of the best I've seen in a while.

Moderation debate elsewhere
There was a considerable amount of moderation policy debate happening in another topic, until I (hopefully) ended it with the following.
quote:
Any further moderation discussion in this topic is deemed cause for suspension.
Crashfrog had one in progress, as I was posting the above. He went back, and deleted that content - I thank him.
I find the discussion of moderation procedures to be interesting, and I welcome such things. But it needs to be confined to this topic, where 1)It won't be disruptive to the other topics, and 2) It can be found for future reference.
So, gripe away, but do it in this topic (a link back to source of the grievance would be nice).

I might be shooting myself in the foot here, but I really don't think Darwin's Terrier should be suspended if I'm not too. I was way more graphic than he was.

I'll 'fess up, too, seeing as I was just as off-color and off-topic as everybody else.

DT threw the first punch...
and will serve the sentence for all you.
Tentitively 7 days from the time of offense.
Might certain parties like to edit in some apologies somewhere?

Re: DT threw the first punch...
My people have been martyred for hundreds of years and are quite used to feeling pain. I know that the guys are a bit lewd and rude at times, yet I rolled with the punch and gave them the benifit of the doubt. They are sometimes kinda like adolescent 8th graders talking about "chick parts". I feel no offense from anyone, and I speak for myself. My Boss may have a word or two for them, but He loves them as much as He loves any Priest or Choirboy. Thanks, Adminnemooseus for your concern over offending someone. We never know who reads this stuff! Phatboy
