Censorship vs Public Safety

As many of you here know, I am also a Christian who feels very strongly about the responsibilities as well as the rights of freedom of speech.That being said I agree with Percys decision to ban a member in the interest of responsibility for what is publically said here at EvC. There is a fine line between beliefs vs facts and we all have a personal responsibility. Lets all look at ourselves as an extended family and think before we speak when it comes to science and public safety.Any further comments regarding Faiths banning can also be discussed here. Lets keep our other topics on topic and not about Faith. This topic can also be about what other Christians including myself say publically.Ive been busy at the grocery store during this quarantine and wont post as much but my prayers are with you all. Thanks for your concern. At my store we were all given masks and gloves. we also have hand sanitizer for cashiers and customer use though they still have none for sale. Nearly everyone respects social distancing though i do get coughed at occasionally. I try and keep discussions positive and help people find what they need. Our shelves are still depleted though not as much. We are entering some tough and challenging times as a nation.

There exists Fake News and there exists False Prophets and those who represent the Bible falsely even though they claim they merely report what it says. I have no time to quibble with you now about THAT...for there are many important things that we are charged by the Holy Spirit (or by what you would say are simply humanistic good conscience) to do. I predict that in the coming months and years that life is going to become harder and much more challenging. It is my belief that we humans...believers and non believers alike...are charged to love help support and encourage one another. We will see many videos warning of apocalyptic events as well as increased looting and social breakdown. but this is not yet the curtain call. It is a dress rehersal. People will trade freedom for security. We are not to worry whether social collapse is ominent or inevitable. As you have said before we ate charged to DO what Jesus told us to do.Perhaps I will start a Last Days topic later but right now I am concerned only with doing the best job and help others today. you would have to be more specific. Through freedom of speech I can market ant belief I want as long as it does no harm to others.
And we can and will mention Jesus in public with no worry that we will be censored.
You are free to set your booth up next to mine but if you misrepresent my product while hawking your own you may incur liability.If we tell our clients to pray and meditate more and watch less news and you call us out as frauds we may have a case against you. Stand back 6-12 feet! Social distancing is enforced. Part of what I want to discuss in this topic is when it is right to censor Christians. Percy, I fully understand your reasoning and why Faith was suspended for an indefinite amount of time. Perhaps it was not fair or democratic to many of our members, but let me add my 2 cents. We all know that Faith serves a useful niche here at EvC. She provides the perfect foil...the ideological opponent whom many of us need in order to debate and hone our own arguments against. Faith was our most prolific poster and her beliefs and opinions are in our archives uncensored and unchanged.I am impressed that some of her most strident opponents actually care so much about her right to free speech. Surely they don't simply want her to be allowed to be here simply to show the world how wrong she is. The fact that she is now prevented from adding to that is your call, and while some of us disagree with your reasoning, I hope that we all respect it. Quite frankly I see you as being a bit over the top in regards to COVID 19, but I also respect that and realize that your intentions are for the safety of yourself, your family, and your extended family and friends which includes us.Speaking on behalf of many in the Forum we ask that you consider allowing Faith the opportunity to come back once this serious pandemic resolves itself.Personally, I see that day as being a good 3 months, but I'm sure she will benefit from the break as well. I know that on some level you do care about her and that your suspension serves as a form of discipline to hopefully cause her to realize that everything she says does carry weight in some realm and in some capacity. This lesson is for all of us. Any one of us can be wrong in what we say.She will likely never change--we all know that. Many of her arguments are downright ludicrous, but they provide a macabre form of entertainment for the rest of us, and even as we quibble endlessly with each other, we have adopted her as one of the community. You must like hanging out at the Dark Web a lot. If I owned a website and had an ongoing row with a creationist who ignored scientific facts, I would likely continually encourage them to broaden their world view if not change their mind and would pin them to the wall every time they made a false assertion. If I myself were aware and cautious of the public health risks of a pandemic and if my ideological adversary touted unproven cures as alternative facts, I might decide to suspend them for a season in the interest of public safety. You can crow all you want about how you should never be censored from information, but if it were my forum and my call, I too would have a right. I might point you to the Dark Web, though.
