Chicago area hospital drive-thru tests more people with antibodies than active virus
Faith message 5723 from elsewhere:
Roseland Hospital phlebotomist: 30% of those tested have coronavirus antibody | Chicago City Wire
A phlebotomist working at Roseland Community Hospital said Thursday that 30% to 50% of patients tested for the coronavirus have antibodies while only around 10% to 20% of those tested have the active virus.
Sumaya Owaynat, a phlebotomy technician, said she tests between 400 and 600 patients on an average day in the parking lot at Roseland Community Hospital. Drive-thru testing is from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. each day. However, the hospital has a limited number of tests they can give per day.
Owaynat said the number of patients coming through the testing center who appear to have already had coronavirus and gotten over it is far greater than those who currently have the disease.
So far there is nothing comparable for California but it seems very possible that they too could have a large number of people with antibodies. There are interesting stories about how Californai had an especially severe flu season starting in the Fall which could reflect the virus instead, or at least some of it could be the virus. The reports do distinguish flu from the virus but they don't seem to have any solid ground for deciding which is which. This is one story about it and there are others at Patch.com.

'Double-Barreled' Flu Season Slams California In Deadliest Week
The flu's death toll continues to climb in California, and many will get sick twice because of outbreaks of the Influenza A and B strains.

JonF reply to the previous message:
Sounds a tad fishy to me. As far as I know we don't have the capability to do that testing accurately. We definitely don't have an FDA approved test.
Coronavirus antibody testing: What is it? Can it reopen US economy?

How reliable are these tests?
Over 50 commercial manufacturers are seeking FDA approval for antibody tests, Theel said.
But Dr. Raed Dweik, chairman of the Respiratory Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, said some of the tests he's seen aren't accurate enough to determine if someone is truly immune to the coronavirus.
This is because antibodies for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 look very similar to antibodies that respond to coronaviruses that cause other illnesses, such as the common cold.
Tests could mistakenly identify antibodies as being for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, producing a false positive. Dweik said it will take more time to develop a test that can accurately detect the right antibodies.
"The timing is tricky," he said. "Developing this test has been fraught with problems."
In addition, scientists don't know a lot about the protective value of coronavirus antibodies, said Dr. Carlos del Rio, an infectious disease expert and executive associate dean at Emory University. The test to identify HIV, for example, is an antibody test. "Having those antibodies doesn't necessarily mean immunity," he said.
Few of the coronavirus antibody tests have been vetted to determine their clinical accuracy, Theel said. No test is 100 percent accurate, she said, and it's up to the clinical laboratories to decide which ones are best for their patients.
"It's one of the biggest concerns right now because there's so many tests out there and we don’t know how the vast majority of them work," she said.

Antibody tests that would verify whether a person recently had the novel coronavirus could be available within a week, according to the nation's top infectious disease expert.
"Within a period of a week or so, we're going to have a rather large number of tests that are available," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on CNN's "New Day" Friday morning.

EvC datadropsite
(Can someone please explain how to use the EvC datadropsite to show a graph or image?)
The forum isn't really set up for members to be able to store graphics on site.
I believe that the EvC datadropsite may well only be accessible for uploads by director level admins. I think Percy/Admin and I are the only director level admins, and I don't recall ever having done anything with it. Essentially, it's Percy's personal storage area.
Members need to store there graphics elsewhere.
