RAZD got me into this group years ago and now I am letting my whole family see where his contributions were unmatched.
I was not able to relocate his Silly Design Institute stuff, which was very amusing.

Xong, were you related to RAZD?
Regardless, he is dearly, dearly missed.... can't imagine this place without him. This is surreal.
*** Edit to add ***
Someone mentioned that he is your brother.... Was this commonly known to most EvC members? How did I not know that???
In any event, my deepest and sincere condolences to you and your entire family

Where to start ?
As with pretty much everyone here, RAZD taught me so much. We shared ideals and liberal values, but he taught everyone, regardless of their views.
A man of huge intelligence and intellect, and also a man of compassion and kindness.
Although I will no longer be able to share thoughts with, and learn from him, I will take his kindness, wisdom, wit and intelligence with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you RAZD. Rest in peace.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Yes Hyro. I am his older brother by a year and 2 days.
Speaking of evolution, yours has been wonderful to watch unfold here.

He Knew.
We have lost one of our best contributors.
We have lost one of our best teachers.
We have lost one our better intellects.
We have lost one of our better angels.
We have lost a good friend.
And verbose as hell!
His tomes went on forever with detail after detail, fact after fact.
To say his analysis was thorough is understatement.
But when you finished reading his posts you KNEW. And you knew well.
But best for me was with my somewhat off sense of humor. More often than not he responded, he understood, and he always gave it back.
Thanks, RAZD.

I was looking forward to his take on developing situations.
I have had a hellish year, and the worst part is more about others, but I am involved. I made a quick post, about the future world, that RAZD would not be able to see. That post was just after I saw that the cancer thread, on June 4, had the horrific news about his passing.
I forgot to mention the alternative energy developments , especially solar.
I noticed my omission, not too long after my post.
In normal times , I would not have forgotten.
RAZD was quite involved with the dirt and mud, hands on experience , of many of the developing issues WHICH ARE MAJOR ISSUES in the broader time we are living in.
He was a valuable player in our times, though he won't get recognition he deserves.

Re: I was looking forward to his take on developing situations.
He got recognition here and that is what matters to us.
RIP RAZD.
He always encouraged me and seldom called me out, even though our ideologies did not match. He encouraged me during my time of dieting and fasting and sobriety from gambling. His posts were teachable moments. He made Deism seem cool.

Don't know what kind of enduring legacy he will make outside of this place, but as far as EvC goes if ever there was an elder statesman of titanic stature, it would be RAZD

RAZD, sad goodbyes
So very sorry to hear this news. For the last several years, whenever I would skim over the forum, I would specifically target his meaningful posts. His words were like a bright candle of humanity in an unfortunately dark and willfully censured world of blight.
I so wish we had more empathetic, curious, outspoken, and intelligent people in the world like RAZD. How infinitely better all our lives would be.
Goodbye RAZD, you will be missed more than you will ever know. Salute!

One Soared
Over this cuckoos nest of contributors one soared with posts of knowledge and rationality and sensitivity, all while dealing with health issues with courage and dignity. He has set a standard to which we should all aspire.

Surprising, I thought he was gonna pull through for longer. Damn it all to hell!
His most terrific words of wisdom here inspire me to no end. A truly wonderful man. I am honored to have shared the world with him for a moment.
Best wishes R.A.Z.D! My stein is raised high in your name! Prost!
