A few new projections.
The State estimates that by tomorrow the State will be a 100% ICU utilization.
In my County we had one death in March; we had five deaths in April; four deaths in May; Twenty-two deaths in June and will have an estimated two hundred and fifty to three hundred deaths in July.

That's serious! I think your state is faring worse than mine. And it all happened recently too. This nightmare scenario is simply becoming worse and worse.
Any word on how Mexico is faring?

We must realize that the Reformation world view leads in the direction of government freedom. But the humanist world view with inevitable certainty leads in the direction of statism. This is so because humanists, having no god, must put something at the center, and it is inevitably society, government, or the state.- Francis A. Schaeffer

Remember that deaths are a trailing indicator. The deaths we are seeing now are from the May and June infections. And so far in the first eight days of July we have added as many new infections as in the first 24 days of June.

Re: Nightmares In Deep South Texas
According to the BBC Arizona is reporting as many cases as the EU. All of it.
That is really bad.
Lockdown really was needed and the States really should have got their act together - and waited for the figures to be right - before reopening. Many of the Southern States did not.

July 9th, 2020
One thousand, two hundred and seventy-four new confirmed cases today and ten additional deaths.
June was horrific with 3407 new cases reported and 22 deaths. That was nearly unbelievable yet folk partied on.
But so far in July, in just 9 days we added 3252 new cases and 113 deaths.
Since deaths trail infections by 4-6 weeks we are seeing the results of May's infections.
And still the local officials are not allowed to shut things down or restrict movement.

You really didn't expect much more than incompetence and lip service from a bunch of repugnicans, did you?
Some businesses are displaying "Mask Required" signs. A couple days ago at my fav grocery, with the sign, was a man with no mask, in the store, with a 9mil strapped to his hip. Open carry.
These people are morons. Cue Blazing Saddles.

Re: Nightmares In Deep South Texas
The figures for deaths was revised over night. It was 20 Covid-19 deaths yesterday not JUST 10.
AbE:
2.1% of all the Covid-19 cases reported Nationwide yesterday were in Hidalgo County.
Of the test results returned yesterday 54% were positive.

July 10th. The Beat Goes On
Today was another brutal day, not as many testing positive but only one fewer deaths. Today there were another 393 positive cases bringing us to more cases in the first 10 days of July than during ALL of June. Nineteen more deaths bring us to 110 deaths just in 10 days. We had 32 deaths total during March, April, May and June; more than 3 times as many deaths in the first 10 days of July as during the previous four months.
The new infections are still skewed towards the young and deaths skewed towards the elderly.

I was wondering why these unmasked people with silly grins on their faces were lined up outside the door.

Our county is way smaller than Jar’s, but we do have a state prison here. The official capacity is 1384 inmates. As of yesterday, 227 of them tested positive for Coronavirus. Last week, they were reporting zero positives.
I have a bridge in New York that I’ll sell you at a pretty reasonable price. Anybody interested?

Lessons as we learn to live with Covid-19.
Started using refrigerated trucks for overflow morgues.
Using school portable buildings for hospital beds.
Requested 2500 additional health care first responders.
Continue to party.
A few steps as we learn to live with it.
