The Great Depression No One Talks About

I have two comments.First, spending in a time of economic difficulty is sensible even if it drives up the debt. The trick is to reduce the debt in more prosperous times.Second, it seems appallingly uncharitable to deal with the newly homeless by having the police move them on. The more so if you just want them inflicted on someone else. True they probably don’t care about your needs. But to them you’re sitting comfortably.

My point is that you should have more sympathy for those who have lost their jobs and homes. If there is another Great Depression, they’re the victims not the cause. The stimulus is not something you should be objecting to either, since it’s keeping things from getting worse.Which would you prefer - losing your job or keeping it but having to pay a little more in tax?

Given that Lennox attacks Hawking for an argument that Hawking does not make explicitly or even implicitly in the quoted material the article seems to be the usual attempt to pretend intellectual superiority by sacrificing intellectual honesty. I guess it’s not surprising that the original was published in the Daily Mail.Needless to say, I am not impressed by Lennox.
