The enemy of my enemy IS my friend?
As usual, Americans are left bickering about who is the bigger asshole of the two candidates instead of focusing on the fact that they're both assholes and both horrible choices. And we just sit there and take it every single election cycle, as if we have no other option.
Why is a criticism of Trump an automatic endorsement of Biden or vice versa? Is it not possible to be critical of bad ideas and to promote good ideas even if it comes from someone we didn't want to elect?
Many Conservatives during the Obama administration would rather have seen the nation collapse just to have been proven right versus being wrong in their assessment and being the healthiest we've ever been. The same can be said about Trump with liberals -- its better to be vindicated and watch it all burn than it is to have been wrong but otherwise live in prosperity.
If I have something negative to say about Joe Biden, and I have plenty, your reply you should be attacking that position and not attack Trump and/or accuse me of de facto supporting him. I can't stand either, so please bear this mind when I say that I am incredibly concerned about Biden's rapidly failing cognition. Discuss WITHOUT a "but Trump" response.

Re: The enemy of my enemy IS my friend?
This could be the election when we finally realize that the "Old White Guy" paradigm that used to give us such leaders as Eisenhower, Cleveland and Reagan is not working out quite as well as it used to.
I wanted to shatter that paradigm by voting for Tulsi Gabbard before she was politically assassinated. Tough break for me and the world... I guess we're gonna have at least four more years of at least one creepy and perverted old white man in the White House.... but which one?

Re: The enemy of my enemy IS my friend?
My current perspective is that if the quality of candidates are rated on a (+)10 to (-)10 scale, we are being presented the options of the "0" (at worst) Joe Biden or the "-10" Donald Trump. You gotta go with the best you can get when you can't get "the best" that you want. So certainly, the enemy of my enemy is certainly my friend. Biden is a vastly less "enemy" than is Trump.
I mean, look, I hear ya on the strategy and why its the strategy. But if that is truly everyone's metric, and it basically is, then this will always play out indefinitely. Right now there are some people who voted for Trump in 2016 thinking that he really was a "Washington outsider who's gonna drain the swamp." Fast-forward four years and they think his performance has been lackluster. This person is now a swing voter.... they're going to re-elect Trump because the devil you know is better than the devil you don't (fear of the unknown).
This swing voter was all about electing a Democrat into office, until one by one, the candidates (s)he were interested in were summarily executed by the DNC. Tulsi Gabbard, Andrew Yang, Pete Buttigieg, one by one taken down by the behemoth. Now we have a crazy 'ole coot who was already prone to gaffes and inappropriate touching... added to the fact that his level of cognition is steadily in decline. And there goes this swing voter's confidence. (S)he is now going to pull the trigger twice on the Orange Idiot.
There is a caveat though, I suppose. And that is who Biden's team selects as his running mate. Because much like it was Cheney running the White House and not George Bush, that could conceivably happen. That might be the only thing to change this swing voter's mind.

Re: The enemy of my enemy IS my friend?
Do you think it's time for Biden's team to officially name his running mate?
Yes, but in predictable fashion to the obvious pandering his administration said that they specifically want to select a woman of color. I guess we're only basing jobs on a discriminatory manner, err, in the interest of eradicating discrimination altogether. As we all know, the only way to eradicate racism and sexism is by doing a bunch of racist and sexist shit. I mean, fight fire with fire, amirite? Works for the fire department so why --- no? Oh, fight fire with water? Hmmm... Counterintuitive, but, okay.
"Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids." -- Joe Biden
There's a better chance that this VP nominee WILL be running the White House either as president or behind-the-scenes fill in concerning Biden's age alone. I think it's time for the voters and analyzers to know who it is NOW.
I don't think they even know. Pretty sure they were vetting Kamala Harris until they replayed footage of some pretty nasty exchanges.
The news media never criticizes or questions Biden about anything. Wouldn't it be nice if they'd pressure him to get this done? If he can't make this decision, how effective will he make time-sensitive decisions as president?
Everybody knows, Democrats included, that Uncle Joe's days are numbered and that he's not fit to run a senior citizen shuffleboard tournament much less the United States of America. They don't really care as long as Trump isn't reelected. They also know that if they end up picking a Sarah Palin-esque candidate, its all going to backfire and Trump will get reelected. So I think they are really being cautious about who they are picking, especially since they've stupidly narrowed down their candidate pool by basing it on race and gender and not qualification.

Re: The enemy of my enemy IS my friend?
He boxed himself in promising to have a female VP nominee. Not that I'm against women running for office! But with all the urban unrest he will also be pressured to nominate a person of color.
Fine, Condoleeza Rice it is
That actually wouldn't be too bad of a strategy. It would probably draw over every swing voter and a very large portion of the Republican Party, pretty much sealing the coffin for Trump. If Biden picked her I'd pull the trigger for him... but you know she's a sane and rational person so that'll never happen.

So, instead, you will consider voting for someone who cheated on his third wife with a porn star, cheated on his first wife with his second wife, used a set up man to pay for an abortion for several mistresses and used a cancer charity to scam money out of donors to line his own pocket.
The question isn't whether or not you think Trump is a scumbag (spoiler alert: he is) the question is if you also think Joe Biden is a scumbag (spoiler alert: he is).
You can sit here and pontificate about the evils of another four years of Trump and how Joe Biden, equally a piece of shit in my estimation, is the lesser of evils or we can stop this binary nonsense that falsely insinuates that a criticism of one is de facto an endorsement for the other. They're both HORRIBLY wrong for America, albeit, in different ways... But scumbaggery nevertheless...
Why is it that if somebody makes a criticism of Biden that people automatically make a reference to Trump? Why don't you defend those criticisms on their own merits and defend why he is not a piece of shit instead of deflecting. You voting for Biden, Ramoss? Then defend a Biden presidency.... don't try to sell me on the evils of a Trump presidency; I already know what the orange buffoon is capable of.
My problem with Democrats at large is that they can't even admit that Creepy Uncle Joe is a kiddie fondler and basically has the cognition of a hamster.
That doesn't seem very Christian to me.
Me neither but, then again, Trump is not nor has he ever been a "Christian" by any measurable definition of the word. Trump is about as Christian as a televangelist...

The Lesser of Evil is still evil
On the other hand, considering the behaviour of prominent Christians, seeing a candidate who is so obviously only giving lip service to religion is rather refreshing.
How so?
I have to say the quality of the two major-party candidates has me looking up info on the minor parties (though the history of people like Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, George Wallace, James Weaver, etc. isn't very comforting). But any votes for them would just be a protest vote, of course.
I'm hedging my bets on Vermin Supreme
Of course, in many states where the vote is a foregone conclusion (For example, Trump's not likely to take California, no matter how incompetent the pandemic, wildfires, etc. have proven the Democrat politicians there to be) a protest vote won't affect the final result and might signal the major parties to put on their big-girl panties and deal with it.
California is a foregone conclusion, having been so poorly mismanaged decade after decade by Leftist imbeciles that people are fleeing in droves to escape the impending doom. What a shame. Best climate in the country and some of the best scenery and its being raped by the dumbest people in the room pretending to be the smartest in the room.

But of course it IS a binary situation. You DO get one or the other.
Because of our stupid two-party system. Most nations have multiple choices because that's the sensible thing to do.
And it isn't just a choice between a horrible person and an equally horrible person. It's a choice between a horrible person and a horrible person who also has a track record as an incompetent President.
Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't... and sometimes it isn't. I don't want to play a cosmic game of craps on something of this magnitude, but it would go a long way if Biden would just tell us his VP pick already, as we know that is who will really be running the country.

Re: The Lesser of Evil is still evil
The candidates are always egged on to profess their faith (or, in the case of President Obama, to dispel rumors about their faith) that it's nice to see a candidate who is clearly making gestures that are purely ceremonial, in the style of an invocation at the beginning of a town meeting or someone saying "Bless you!" after a sneeze.
I would like a president to stand by the sentiment that they would rather be hated for who they are than loved for what they're not.

Re: The Lesser of Evil is still evil
It's politics. The Clintons had to pretend to be a devoted couple (though why should a failed marriage be a detriment to a political reputation?)
I wouldn't even call it a failed marriage. I don't believe that was ever a real marriage. She's a closeted lesbian and he's a womanizer. They both knew it from the get-go and it provided them with a cover story while they both slept around but they also recognized the ambition they both had. Marriage, no. Political alliance, yes.
President Obama had to pretend to be tolerant, at least in public, of people he considered "bitter clingers" (though why should a negative view of religion, especially in a country like the USA which separates religion from the state, be a detriment to a political reputation?)
Because America has had a sordid history with Islam, starting as far back as Tripoli.

Catholic school is vicious as Roman Rule
he cannot deal with losing like he will -- indeed, we are seeing that play out in real time as his prospects for re-election continue to plummet.
He has already stated that he expects voter fraud thereby giving him the ability to later say, "Oh, I've been talking about this since the campaign trail." But never mind that he was elected greatly in part by Russian collusion.... that's a different kind of voter fraud.
He has proven to be a psychopath who does not care what he does in retaliation -- every possible social norm that no sane person would ever even dream of violating, he violates without a single thought three times before breakfast. There are no limits to what he might do.
In fairness he must listen to his team somewhat, because if he actually did half the shit he says on Twitter there would have been a nuclear holocaust by now. Imagine how exhausting it must be trying to persuade the president to not nuke North Korea on a daily basis.
Declare martial law? Order the arrest of his opponents? Launch a nuke at one of his favorite enemies? -- though whether it would be Iran, Angela Merkel, or California, or New York is a toss-up.
If the Constitution wasn't around to suppress him he would absolutely be a Caligula.
And you are going to cheer on the destruction that Trump will cause. Wow. You really have hit rock bottom and now you've started to dig. Why do you hate America so much?
He's Roman Catholic.... he thinks Roman rule still reigns supreme... you know, the people that murdered Jesus. The people that persecuted the early church? Yeah, those people....

Forgive PRC for he knows not what he does
The Call of Jeremiah
4The word of the LORD came to me, saying: 5Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you a prophet to the nations. 6Ah, Lord GOD, I said, I surely do not know how to speak, for I am only a child
quote:
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him. Go up baldhead, they shouted, go up baldhead! The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces. -- 2nd Kings 2:23-24
His mercies endure forever.
quote:
Let the offspring of the wicked, never be mentioned again. Prepare a place to slaughter his children for the sins of their ancestors; they are not to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with their cities. I will rise up against them, declares the Lord Almighty. I will wipe out Babylon’s name and survivors, her offspring and descendants, declares the Lord. -- Isaiah 14:21-22
His mercies endure forever
quote:
Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all — old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple. So they began by killing the seventy leaders. Defile the Temple! the LORD commanded. Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go! -- Ezekiel 9-5-7
His mercies endure forever
quote:
And at midnight the LORD killed all the firstborn sons in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn son of the captive in the dungeon. Even the firstborn of their livestock were killed. Pharaoh and his officials and all the people of Egypt woke up during the night, and loud wailing was heard throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house where someone had not died. -- Exodus 12:29-30
His mercies endure forever
quote:
If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, I will inflict you with seven more disasters for your sins. I will release wild animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted. -- Leviticus 26:21-22
His mercies endure forever
quote:
Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children -- Isaiah 13:15-18
Yikes, did the priest skip over this sermon??? Should I keep going? Plenty more carnage and zero fucks given for infants. I think you should probably know about what the Word of God is if you're going to make a statement that purports to know how he feels about a certain subject; such as abortion.
You know, your Lord and Savior Donald Trump supported abortion for a loooooong time until that became an unpopular position to hold as a lifelong DEMOCRAT switching sides. Oh, didn't know about that either??? Yikes.... this must be so uncomfortable for you. A Catholic supporting a filthy Protestant, Democrat, pro-abortion heretic.... What has this world come to?
Better recite a 100 Hail Mary's and call me in the morning. Or maybe not....
quote:
When you pray do not use VAIN REPETITIONS, as the heathen do: for they think they will be heard for their many words -- Matthew 6:7
Wow, I think Jesus just called Catholics heathens
I'll stop there.... this must be difficult for you to process this much information. Your whole worldview is wrong. I can see how that might mess with your head.

Re: Doing the Job
Careful! The "American" party of the early 19th century (nicknamed the Know-Nothing) were virulently anti-Catholic, accusing Catholics of disloyalty.
Very true. Bill the Butcher, portrayed here by Daniel Day-Lewis, summarizes the position the Know Nothing's had in regards to Catholic immigrants. Just replace "Irish" with "Mexican" and you pretty much have history repeating itself in the modern era.
The divide between Catholic and Protestant in the modern-age, at least in America, is not a huge deal but the further back you go in history towards Martin Luther the greater the mutual disdain was.

Re: Doing the Job
And the issue of immigration is still with us! 7% of the residents of the United States are non-citizens! Consider the friction that can cause, the problems with loyalty, the problems with people being taxed without having the power to vote for their representatives!
When you say non-citizen there is a lot to unpack there. It is likely reflective of persons with green cards and various school or work visas. They are vital to the United States. Those people can be tracked. As for unaccounted, illegal immigrants that is the issue. We can only estimate the amount of people that are here completely illegally. As for them it certainly causes a lot of problems that I think well-meaning people are not understanding.
They are not contributing to federal taxes which funds the lion's share of all taxes in the US. That's a problem. They are also taken advantage of on account of their immigration problem. Indentured servitude, outright slavery, human sex trafficking, etc are all problems faced by immigrants who did not cross legally. And, yes, as a result they have no representation because of it.

Kamala Harris
Unsurprisingly, the Democrats apparently love losing and whenever possible they scuttle their own chances to oust Trump.
If you're going to play Identity Politics at least try to find someone worth the trouble. Are we supposed to forget that Harris excoriated Biden as a racist as her main talking about against him? I guess its okay to work for a known racist as long as it advances your political career, aye, Kamala? Are we also supposed to forget the spanking Tulsi Gabbard gave to Kamala in regards to her being responsible for thousands of incarcerated "brown and black" people? You couldn't dream up a worst ticket if you tried. What a joke... You have nobody to blame but yourselves.
As I've heard many say these days, "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me."
