Re: Is This How You Treated Each Other On The Porch Discussions?
The Bible says a lot of things that are patently false. The talking snake is one of the most obvious examples. It's obvious because snakes don't have the physical apparatus required for speech, much like how giraffes do not have the physical apparatus required for juggling.
So you do not accept that the snake is an angel? Why not? Because it is not scientific?
Are you going to use science to argue against theology? Where is God in science? Are you going to continue that kind of talk in this faith-based forum? the Bible is a faith book, not a science book. EVERYTHING said in the Bible is theologically sound and correct.
Your talking snake question has been fully answered.

Re: Proof God has no free will?
You may have read some in the Bible. Your talk disclosed that you don't really understand what you read.
A simple test: what does "die" or "death" mean in the Bible?

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
If that were true then there would be some noticeable and testable behavior differences.
But no one has EVER shown any evidence of such traits.
I guess you've never visited a church meeting.
Try one. The answer is there.

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
Have you or any Apologist ever presented evidence or even a reasoned argument to support the existence of any spirits?
In addition to your physical body, do you have some kind of spirit?
You may say you don't.

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
Been there, seen the silliness and contagion.
There was absolutely no evidence of anything but a total failure to think or keep in touch with reality.
It does not matter how did you feel in a church. The key is you DO feel some differences.
THAT, is the evidence.

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
What exactly is the test to identify some spirit?
For your spirit, the test comes from your mouth and your thinking.
Or, if you want explicit data, you can make a survey to no matter how many people with a question: "Do you think you have a human spirit? (yes no). " Can you imagine the result of this survey?

Re: Introducing An Old Argument Revisited
If we define a unicorn in the usual way, four legs, tail, mane, horn, etc, you can think about it, know what it is, and decide whether there is such a thing.
But if you add another property, "existence", then things get more interesting. A unicorn is something that exists, has four legs, tail, mane, horn, etc. Does it exist? Yes, of course, by definition!
Very good first step.
So, by definition, the unicorn exists.
Then what?
Define something is only the first step. The meaningful thing is what is the use of that definition. By defining a god, a theology can be constructed. What does the unicorn-ology say AFTER you define the unicorn?

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
It is evidence that you feel something but is not evidence that it is not just a bad burrito. It is most certainly not evidence of any spirit or god or miracle or anything other than feeling something.
Is the difference feeling in mood of a gathering caused by anything physical? if not, what caused the difference?

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
The survey would be evidence of absolutely NOTHING but the results of the survey.
So, what kind of thing you expect to see which you would take it as an evidence? If you can not specify it, then you do not know what you are asking for.

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
I see no evidence it would be possible to ever see any evidence for anything other than purely natural events.
OK, you see no possibility to have an evidence to support an idea.
That means, you will also have no possibility to see an evidence to against that idea.
If so, what would you say about the idea?

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
The evidence that the Bible is simply a human creation and filled with errors, impossibilities, fantasy, contradictions and evolving folk tales is overwhelming.
Again, this is the second time I challenge you to give just ONE such case of Biblical error. Don't disappoint me.

Re: Critical Thinkers vs Apologetics
That every religious nut down through the ages has claimed what they assert to be evidence when others look at it and just laugh.
Of course. What do you expect? Have evidences on religion like on sciences? That is ridiculous.
Evidences on faith is personal. I see evidences, and I try to share it with you. If you do not see, that is too bad. It is your loss, not mine. I see everything you see, but you do not see the most important thing I see.
Get that? That is the nature of religion.
