Re: Music for the road
I really like it. Very much a Gilmour album. His distinctive guitar sound is there. His wife writes pretty good lyrics too.
I could not live without a good sound system in my car. I highly suggest you look into getting a sound system that has USB inputs. It is nice to be able to not have to mess with a MP3 player and be able to control all your music right from the dash. I bought a 2011 Chevy Traverse a couple years ago. It has a decent sound system with USB. The file support is a little clunky. If you go with a system with USB make sure that it will sort by Mp3 tags, not just file names. In my car it sorts the files by how they were put on the drive. I have to run a program when my USB stick is connected to my computer that sorts the FAT so the system will alphabetize by groups.

Re: Music for the road
I ran across this short interview with Gilmour talking about how he achieves his distinctive sound on the guitar. I tried to to embed this video but I don't have a clue what I did wrong.
David Gilmour Explains How He Gets That Gilmour Sound
I never get tired of listening to him. I installed an app called Poweramp on my phone and I get really fine sound from my headphones. They fit over my hearing aids which help give an even richer sound. Sometimes life is so sweet.

Charlie Parr
a video
It was no small trick to track this down since there was no "Charlie Parr" text to be found by a search, but I knew it was somewhere in the forum.
Charlie have achieved remarkable world wide success considering his core seems to be old style acoustic blues. He still also plays a lot locally.
I was inspired to search for this (replied to) posting because Charlie Parr is playing as part of a KTWH-LP (our local little radio station) benefit variety show this coming March 24th. And we much thank him.
So, if you want a show including Charlie Parr, come to Two Harbors, Minnesota that date.

Re: Charlie Parr
I do like Charlie Parr. I have most of his cd's and have seen him live a few times. Been a while though. He used to play Wednesday nights at Fitgers. I think it was called the Red Star club. The problem was his set didn't start till 10. I am too old to be u that late, especially when I have a 45 in drive home.
Might have to consider taking the trip to Two Harbors. We get back from a trip to Puerto Rico the day before so doubt I can convince my wife to take the drive.

Re: Charlie Parr
I pretty much threw out the show information not thinking that there might actually be someone out there close enough to be interested in attending.
It's going to be a small town type variety show and I'm unsure how much of it is going to be Charlie Parr. I'm guessing maybe 1/2 hour of the 2 hour show.
Probably better ways to experience Charlie Parr, especially if a long drive is involved.

Charlie Parr - Interview, live playing on KTWH on Friday 19-03-22
Well, not absolutely live - It was recorded about a week or so ago.
Being replayed at 5:00 pm U.S. central time, Friday 19-03-22.
KTWH 99.5 FM Two Harbors Community Radio
IMO, a very good hour if you're at all interested in Charlie Parr or music in general.
This was also played this afternoon, but I didn't think of posting info until too late.
For time zone corrections, I'm posting this at 8:46 pm U.S. central time.
Moose
Added by edit - For the show on Sunday 19-03-24, Charlie will be playing the second half of the show, probably about 1 hour (but we're not going to stop him if he wants to do more).

Siegfried's Funeral March
In general, I don't care much for Wagner, but this is one piece that is epic. From Götterdämmerung ("Twilight of the Gods", AKA "Ragnark").
If you find it sounds familiar, it was used quite a bit in Excalibur (1981).

Art Blakey and Ginger Baker drum duet video
I'm a big Art Blakey fan, and I just stubled on to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qghrsBfSbgk
In black and white, and both the audio and video quality is considerably less than wonderful. But something interesting if one is at all a drummer fan.
