So you'd rather see poor people starving. Of course not, but I dont want to be making the same wage as they do. We Christians will suffer, however. I cant be an asshole and defend Capitalism. Speaking of conspiracy theories...I recently saw a few online. Granted im not prone to believe anything based on source or authority alone, but I can intuitively see common sense when I read it. Here are three:
1) Newslatter from Stansbury Research: quote: And shockingly, this video...though a bit cheesy, has the adversary saying the exact things that jar and ringo spout. Note the quotes towards the end.

you do have a point. i fear socialism because few of them trust Jesus...trusting humanity inatead. i know that tangle would say its obviously the only objective solution but something in my intuition tells me not to trust it. pray for me to get true wisdom.

You fear socialism because you don't know the first damn thing about it. Bite your tongue. I learn quickly and am likely at least as intelligent as you. What I have told you time and time again that I fear is for the middle class to be forced to join with the poor impoverished masses that you so want to liftup. Im all for lifting them up but not if I have to come down in order to do so. Why should I get paid the same as the new guy that just started? Why am I forced to get taxed to support everybody and be unable to save for my own retirement? However...the things Trump might do dont sound so good either. Im stuck in the middle...deciding which way to cast my vote. Which agenda will help Phat the most? Or should I just give it all to Jesus and trust Him? ringo writes: Lets use common sense. Where will the money come from to help the poor?
And what I have answered every time, Mr. Learns Quickly, is that if you lift up the poor, you won't be going down to meet them, they'll be coming up to meet you. Thus it has to come from the rest of us. You claim that the poor will come up to meet me, but I am arguing that the money I now am scarely able to save for my retirement will get taken from me through higher taxes and that I will have to drop a notch or two in order for the poor to come up to "meet me". You dont mention that the poor and myself will then be in the same class. They may well have come up a couple of notches, but I will have dropped a notch or two. ringo writes: While wary of many of the televangelists and a good half of the Christians, I am not inclined to mistrust Christian apologetics. It intuitively makes sense to me, and rings true in my inner Spirit. Your Critical Thinking and evidence backed amalgamated Jesus Gantry, the whole "pick a God" spinning wheel, the admonition to throw God away and simply do the message, and the universe being essentially created out of nothing is what I do not trust. But it's the ones who DO trust God - e.g. the televangelists and the apologists - who can't be trusted. I am intuitive. Take conspiracy videos on YouTube. I reject 95% of them because they make extraordinary claims that are based on no testable foundation. IF, on the other hand, the commentator has a reasonably logical argument, I pay more attention and if the topic is one I am concerned about, I watch the video. Like this one.
It has basic observational truths in it, and I see no reason to question it more than I have. I likely will vote for Biden this year. This despite the fact that many of the charismatic Christians vilify the agenda. My decision was arrived at entirely through prayer and meditation. It goes against the mainstream church, but I don't care---I listen to God and not popular Christian opinion. I will say this much though. We are in store for some tough times. Dr.John Lennox has a plethora of material which would be classified as Apologetic. One such article which I found of his was this one:
Stephen Hawking and God in which he challenges Hawking's basic pronouncement that "the laws of physics, not the will of God, provide the real explanation as to how life on earth came into being. " Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow(Caltech physicist) wrote a book called The Grand Design which Dr. Lennox was challenging. Hawking basically was quoted as saying Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist. It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.(...) and " because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Lennox provided rational responses to these basic claims. Dr. Lennox is one of the few people who could even hope to follow Dr. Hawking's thought process, so in regards to defending the Christian Worldview from secular scientists who attempt to add atheism and philosophy to their theories, he is well qualified. He also challenges another well known atheist, Peter Atkins: quote:I dont fully understand the argument, but am in favor of Dr. Lennox defense in general. (and why wouldn't I be? ) "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.- Dr.John Lennox The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.- Criss Jami, Killosophy

Send me a link of the same debate that you watched. I never figured that any of you would agree with me regarding his arguments...but it almost seems as if you guys are on another planet from myself. Collectively, none of you (PaulK, Tangle, ringo) see any need for God to exist and are thus not as biased as I am going in to these arguments. The reason that I provided an article versus a video (though I find videos much easier to absorb) is due to ringo having no way of watching videos in the library where he frequents.
I have no written material from Vince Vitale, however, and thus can only share an audio podcast. I like Vince because he is philosophical rather than a scriptural literalist, which wouldn't impress you anyway.

This may be a bit off topic concerning a Great Depression, although one can argue that a Depression is not time to be giving away all we have.
Anyway...I know you will accuse me of not defending my argument in my own words, but I learn through studying the beliefs, words, and opinions of others. Heck I even learn from YOU once in awhile. Wiki writes: Note the portion I underlined. The opening, "A man had two sons" is a storyteller's trope and would immediately bring to mind Cain & Abel, Ishmael & Isaac, and Esau & Jacob. Jesus then confounds the listeners' expectations when the younger son is shown to be foolish.[6] While a number of commentators see the request of the younger son for his share of the inheritance as "brash, even insolent"[7] and "tantamount to wishing that the father was dead,"[7] Jewish legal scholar Bernard Jackson says "Jewish sources give no support to [the idea] that the prodigal, in seeking the advance, wishes his father dead."[6] The young man's actions do not lead to success, he squanders his inheritance and he eventually becomes an indentured servant, with the degrading job of looking after pigs, and even envying them for the carob pods they eat.[7] This recalls Proverbs 29:3: "Whoever loves wisdom gives joy to his father, but whoever consorts with harlots squanders his wealth."[v] Upon his return, his father treats the young man with a generosity far more than he has a right to expect.[7] He is given the best robe, a ring for his finger, and sandals for his feet.[vi] Clothing in the Bible may be symbolic of a character's change in status (see Biblical clothing). In this instance, clothing and accessories represent his rebirth ("was dead and is alive again") and newfound state ("was lost and is found"[vii]).[8] Jewish philosopher Philo observes:[6] Parents often do not lose thought for their wastrel children. In the same way, God tootakes thought also for those who live a misspent life, thereby giving them time for reformation, and also keeping within the bounds His own merciful nature. The Pesikta Rabbati has a similar story:[6] A king had a son who had gone astray from his father on a journey of a hundred days. His friends said to him, 'Return to your father.' He said, 'I cannot.' Then his father sent word, 'Return as far as you can, and I will come the rest of the way to you.' So God says, 'Return to me, and I will return to you.' The older son, in contrast, seems to think in terms of "law, merit, and reward,"[7] rather than "love and graciousness."[7] He may represent the Pharisees who were criticizing Jesus.[7] The last few verses of the parable summarize the tale in accordance with the Jewish teaching of the two ways of acting: the way of life (obedience) and the way of death (sin).[9] God, according to Judaism, rejoices over and grants more graces to repentant sinners than righteous souls who don't need repentance.[10] Following the Parable of the Lost Sheep and the Parable of the Lost Coin, this is the last of three parables about loss and redemption that Jesus tells after the Pharisees and religious leaders accuse him of welcoming and eating with "sinners."[11] The father's joy described in the parable reflects divine love:[11] the "boundless mercy of God,"[12] and "God's refusal to limit the measure of his grace."[11]In this instance, clothing and accessories represent his rebirth ("was dead and is alive again") and newfound state ("was lost and is found"[vii]).[ I really cant defend exclusivity. What I can defend is the idea that change is evident from the sons perspective. The Father never expected anything more than the son returning home.
