The militarization was in wake of the LA bank robbery where two men were able to kill and critically injure hundreds of officers because they were out-gunned.
dude the only people who died in the north hollywood shootout were the robbers. And instead of "hundreds" of injured personal it was really 12 officers and 8 civilians.
