it's not preaching
They really aren't preaching but simply marketing. It's no different than the stream of "reviews" where folk talk about the lunch they just ate or where they bought their new shoes or the latest smart phone. It shows in almost all advertising these days; absolutely no content or value or worth just imaginary fantasy.

There are fish to catch.
And you still don't see just how pitiful and degrading statements like that sound!
But that is a typical and common example of the total inability of so much of Christianity to think about what they market.
Fish do not desire to get caught.
Caught fish are not persuaded.
Caught fish are simply fodder to be consumed and the remains discarded or used as fertilizer.
Caught fish are used as long as they are profitable but thrown away once no longer of use or worth.
It is a near perfect synopsis of so much of both modern and historic Evangelical Christianity.

Re: "Those" Fundy Believers
LOL
I don't explain them Phat; I acknowledge that the Bible says what is actually written.
That does not change anything I said. The Evangelicals and much of historical Christianity DID see the goal similar to the fisherman metaphor (also found in Luke by the way). Christianity expanded and flourished just as a person with a net; Christians were netted whether they liked it or not often by violence or by economic and political persuasion. Christianity was a Political and Economic and Military force; it was command and control.
But it would be nice to think Christians (despite the evidence found in todays CCoI) had matured beyond thinking there goal was to net new Christians.

Re: The Grand Socialist Democratic Experiment
Phat writes:
I fear that you guys wont ever allow for the possibility of One God. You cringe at the audacity of any authority over humanity. (You fear it will be like the conservative authoritarians)
How could ANY thinking person ever fear the God you market?
None of us fear your One God since there is thousands of years of evidence that your One God simply does not exist.
AbE:
Many of us do fear any Theocracy no matter whether it pretends it has one God or like modern Evangelical Fundamental Christianity makes up so fantasy of three in one and calls it monotheistic and we fear it because there is thousands of years of evidence that Christianity and any other theocracy cannot be trusted with power.

Re: The Grand Socialist Democratic Experiment
Oh come on Dr; the CCoi loves being where it's warm and dark.
Phat complains of socialism but frankly it is the only thing he will rely on should he ever be honest.
