AstraZeneca vaccine now approved here.
Very good news; we have 100m doses and it doesn't need special storage. And it's cheaper than the mRNA vaccines.
I may get it by March with a bit of luck

At the current rate we are seeing in the US we should get everyone vaccinated by 2031.

By 2031
Much faster than that since you're killing nearly as fast as vaccinating.

We've just changed strategies from two doses 21 days apart to two doses 3 months apart. The theory being that the first jab will give a high level of protection and we can get that protection into more people faster by delaying the second.
I think I just heard on the news that you Yanks are going to stick with the original plan?

Good evening
At the grocery store I work at, our stores pharmacy will be one of the few distributors in the Denver area. They say we should get the vaccine within 2 weeks and that after the essential workers get inoculated, we will get our shots right before the general public...I think starting with the aged. I'm 61 and tested negative, plus I am not in the essential category of workers.

You forgot to mention that he's setting most of the fires.

In this case the luck involved is where I live. I happen to be near a good health centre and a major hospital. Had I been somewhere else it might be different. (Just like you being born in a Christian country luckily (sic) made you a Christian.) Pure chance.
As it happens a new piece of luck is that they're delaying the second dose which means the first dose comes faster to me.

Re: Throwing Luck and Chance Away
The reason I ask is because I was at work on Saturday January 2nd when the pharmacists had an open appointment from a scheduled visit by a Hospital Worker who canceled. They asked my Boss if he had anyone who qualified as high(er)risk and who would volunteer. I took the spot and received my first of two doses of the Moderna Covid 19 vaccine. The next day I felt fine....no symptoms whatsoever. My 2nd dose will occur by the end of January and the literature suggests that I wont really feel the full effects of immunization until a week or so after that....likely mid February. The general public does not know anything about availability at this time, but we are gearing up for it and expected to get to them(in categorical order) by the time I get my second shot.(January 29th)
I felt a bit sore in my arm and for a brief moment at home, my lungs burned as if on fire and I thought to myself how that might be how COVID 19 actually feels...in which case I likely would die from such a disease. I was not afraid of the shot, however.
As I joke to people, I put a lot worse substances into my body in my early twenties than a quickly formed (and approved) vaccine. I consider it a blessing to be among the first in my store to get it...and I trust God more than I do any man-made vaccine. I think that the mainstream charismatic church is ignorant, however. Many of them will refuse to get vaccinated.
I suppose that its all an issue of trust. Not simply trust in God but trust in humans.
Edited by Phat, : this was no cosmic lottery

Re: Throwing Luck and Chance Away
No. Was the missed appointment a result of blind luck or chance? Was my relationship with my employer(as well as the union steward) a result of luck or chance? Was my familiarity with communication skills and my ability to keep quiet in a public place a result of luck or chance?
I personally think that my prayers surely did not hurt either. You can call it all chance if you want, but if I were you, I wouldn't throw away the bells and the smells just yet.
