Surely this is going to change some Republican minds.

OK. So, at this point the capitol building is in the hands of "protesters" and the authorities are in control everywhere else.
Trump, of course, is quiet. The white house has approved a "change of mission" of local National Guard units calling them in to respond. Which means what? Only reports of one shot, in hospital. Joe Biden, president to be, calls it an insurrection, laid at Trumps feet and "demanding" he call them off ... now! There is curfew for 6 PM Wash DC Eastern time. the troops will be in place. Those that came for confrontation will have their opportunity then. Trump should be responding, reportedly a taped response to be aired, and ... Good god what the fuck is this cheeto-brain going to say? You gotta know he can only pour gasoline on a situation. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.Factio Republicana delenda est. |

This is going nowhere serious - but it is going to seriously undermine the Tangerine Turd’s attempts to manufacture a movement after his inevitable removal from office.
Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

This is after Trump addressed his thronging hoard at the white house. He deliberately sent them into a tizzy and ... off they went. I'm sure I recall that according to the reporting on Trump's speech (reported before the insurrection started) Trump directed them to march on the Capitol. Not only did he deliberately whip them into a frenzy, but he also pointed them in the direction he wanted them to go.
They are picking out the rebels around the edges of the crowd, one by one. But this cannot be allowed to stand. It has been pointed out that these people, especially the ones who have entered the Capitol building, have been caught on camera. They will be identified and charged. We have already identified their ring leader, Trump. We need to remove him from office as quickly as possible in order to prevent further mayhem. The 25th Amendment would work the fastest, but every way I've read it requires the Vice President to initiate the process. Maybe this would restore Pence's spine, especially the way that Trump had placed Pence's own life in jeopardy. What I haven't heard anything about yet is whether the security of the electors' ballot counts had been maintained.
ABE: News updateI just now heard reported that a Senate aide had grabbed the ballots and state affidavits and removed them to safety. Edited by dwise1, : ABE: News update

Binden was uninspiring. Said the right words, had the right ideas, but, gawd, his delivery! Apparently none of his writers has any vocabulary. George W. Bush, not the brightest flame, was way more erudite.
Trump, though calling for the crowd to go home, was deliberately inflammatory in his childish way none the less. Who woulda knowd? OK I know this is not the rise of the Reich, just a whole big bunch of really pissed-off Trumpers (as if there is much difference) and, yes, there are a whole huge lot of them, 10 thousand ++. An actual friggin army of Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Knights of the True American Spirit As Our God Intended, etc. Trump got the shock he wanted. Now, so he thinks, His Cheeto is the power in town. He couldn’t care less what happens to his mob, now. You served your purpose. But, just like god, he loves you. He’s gone back into his never-never land, and, unusually, twitter silent, except his taped response to this whole mess was done on the twit by the twit. There may be more bloodshed tonight. Buzz in the media from conversations heard in the crowd is that it gets real tonight. Bravado? Plan? Tonight is not the worry. The worry is what Trump’s insurgent army does next across these next few days as congress tries to complete the electoral count and plans for the inauguration. So far, I am very favorably impressed with the non-confrontational initial nature of the local authorities. I know many say this invasion of the capitol building is worth fighting with heavy force, but the situation ended without the hundreds dead that could have happened. One dead, not sure how. Well done, so far, DC police, who, apparently, are in charge of the response on the street. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.Factio Republicana delenda est. |

Tangle writes: Ordinary Republicans may well be responsible for electing Trump. Hopefully most of the non-populist ones with some educational perspective and half a brain realize the error of their choice 4 years ago...but for them it was Trump or Hillary and to this day most ordinary Republicans would choose Trump (were he their only option) I really hope that ordinary Republicans finally understand what they've done.In 2016 I simply did not vote. I disliked both Hillary and the Donald. In 2020 I favored Biden as the better choice largely due to Trumps utter incompetence and indifference...but am wary of the extreme Left and all that BLM reparations crap as well as the witchcraft of the LGBQT. I have nothing against being gay or being black, but I do have objections when personal feelings and general misunderstanding of who God is (they prefer humanism by and large) becomes political. dwise1 writes: The far right extremists are as troublesome as the far left idealogues. You guys think they are worse, but there are not as many uneducated nationalist rednecks as there are pissed of minorities and feminists whose major crime is ignoring the authority of God and placing themselves as such. They stir up as much trouble as the redneck racists though in a different sort of way. I see both extrtemist groups as counter productive and divisive.

I believe that he will become an effective leader as president6 and the scale of balance will again tilt towards the center of the political spectrum where I live. Biden was uninspiring.Trump, though calling for the crowd to go home, was deliberately inflammatory in his childish way none the less. He is a spoiled brat (with Dads money initially) from a military school with an ego that eclipses his brain. We cant get him out of the way soon enough.
Well done, so far, DC police, who, apparently, are in charge of the response on the street. The police in general have likely had some training since George Floyd. Hopefully they have learned crowd control. Its like walking on eggshells.
Tangle writes: The economic correction will occur later this year. One thing that the moderate republicans understand is that you need to stimulate small business. The mistake was in giving Big Business the tax breaks as well...though the late Dr.Milton Friedman understood economic reality. We cant just keep handing out stimulus checks without coming around to bite us in the wallet. We look out for our family and immediate extended family before we adopt the whole world as our brothers and sisters. It will be God who judges the intentions and motives of the collective human heart and I believe both extremes of the political ideological spectrum will be judged based on what they do with what they honestly believe. I do not see God as Spinoza did.
One guy can do an awful lot of damage.Taq writes: We need to be aware of painting the opposing political spectrum from our own with too broad a brush. More to the point, let's hope they care. I am so tired of the political division in our country. Both extremes need to move towards the middle. Nationally first and globally second. AZPaul3 writes: Defining "evil" as attempts to disenfranchise minority voters by the millions, doing nothing substantial to stem a plague ravaging the nation, legislating barriers to middle class, health & safety and equality programs, creating armed conflict rather then curtailing it and funneling $500 billion (that's billion with a "b") to highly profitable corporations while forsaking the rest of the people in this society... then, yes, the modern republican party is evil. I'm assuming that you value the global poor before preserving the US middle class (and working class). But you guys claim Socialism is no boogieman. We in the US are a ways from it....though I worry about an ulterior motive behind global debt and the means to repay the bill(if in fact it needs to be paid). My worry is that the democrats will find ways to block economic freedom in the name of alleviating human suffering...making social payments (higher taxes) mandatory and spending the money on what republicans see as the wrong things. The political division will continue until you guys accept God or the Republicans give it all up, as ringo eagerly suggests. Jesus Himself will have to come back to straighten this whole planet out. Either that or the extreme Left will win and we will be forced to be a humanist world. Or both. I'm assuming that you value the global poor before preserving the US middle class (and working class). No. That is your discordant view misrepresenting the issue. We have our own global poor. I wish we could legislate away the evil of this striking economic disparity all over the world but we have no such power. We can, however, address this disparity in our society, here in the USofA. Stop trying to obscure the national goal by objecting to a global strawman because that is not the friggin issue. We can secure our peoples healthcare, education and other liberal programs in this country. We'll tackle the global problem once we have gotten our own populations secured.
My worry is that the democrats will find ways to block economic freedom in the name of alleviating human suffering...making social payments (higher taxes) mandatory and spending the money on what republicans see as the wrong things. What economic freedom? You have no economic freedom! Your economic status is determined by the oligarchs, that 1% that controls 99% of our wealth, and they are not about to give up their $$billions without the force of this society. Confiscatory taxes on such excess wealth and the implementation of universal health care, universal education, jobs and food programs and, maybe, hopefully, universal basic income, are not just in order and justified but mandatory if we want to achieve the kind of society where you do not have to fight your employer and your union and the rest of society for basic human needs and dignity. There is plenty of $$$. Plenty resources available to this country. We need to take that wealth and use it for our people instead of shoveling more $$billions into the elites' already swollen wallets. The higher taxes you are so afraid of, you already pay by being economically deprived. That hidden tax you pay through the nose now goes, by 99%, to the elite instead of your wellbeing. We can change that. Fuck the republicans and their view of "the wrong things"! They are the ones shoveling our wealth to the elites! The republicans are the ones sucking our national wealth into their masters purse to the tune of multiple hundreds of $$billion every year, Phat. That would pay for a lot of good for society but instead it is handed over to the super-wealthy in hope that they will trickle (piss down) some of that to the rest of us. Bullshit, Phat! Your fuckin republicans are the fuckin problem!
The political division will continue until you guys accept God or the Republicans give it all up, as ringo eagerly suggests. Your god can do nothing. This is a problem with in reality not your fantasies. Doing nothing to stem this evil waiting on some ephemeral imaginary ghost to fix it is a stupidity that needs to be burned out of our society. It's crap.Factio Republicana delenda est.

Well the republicans are now screwed for a decade at least. Trump and his fanatics will run against them and split the party.

That is simply a truly stupid statement Phat and also totally dishonest. But I can fix it for you.
