I disagree, strongly.Stern measures, public censure, shaming, insult, loss of jobs, curtailing influence and power, and more, are justified and necessary or these seditionist criminals will come back quicker, stronger and more entitled than before.The teltale is that at this point the republicans in congress refuse to disciline their own group of seditionists. No calls from the republican leadership or their caucuses have been made to censure and remove these traitor. They don't care. They are twisting and spinning every which way to excuse what happened at the Capitol seeking as much political advantage in the wake of this seditionist mess.The republicans in congress are not interested in peaceful accommodation. They supported the Cheeto in his attempts to reverse the voice of the people. The loud public recriminations of outrage that should be coming from the republican side of the aisle are silent. Summarize the Trump presidency? I think everyone politically sane would agree that this has been the most corrupt, incompetent, dangerous and disastrous presidency in our nation’s short existence.What is even more damning to the nation is the republican’s refusal to stop the obvious ongoing disaster when handed the opportunity. The Republican Party played power politics for its advantage while the nation suffered. So much for statecraft and the good of the nation.If open corruption in office is not an impeachable offence then nothing is. If an open call for seditious insurrection is not an impeachable offence then nothing is. In republican hands the impeachment power of the congress does and means nothing.Now what the country needs is for Trump to be put on trial. All the dirty laundry from the lies and conspiracies to the fomenting of insurrection as well as the seditious support he received from the Republicans in both chambers, has to be brought onto the official record for all of history to condemn.After Trump’s conviction and banning from future office his republican enablers and fellow seditionists need to be censured and expelled from both houses.The fallout from this presidency will poison the American body politic for decades.
