speaking from the peanut gallery, I noticed that you were presenting Percy with a list of excuses. Spellcheck is a legit one... I could never comment on EvC were it not for my trusty desktop typewriter....the smartphone is a torture device from hell.

all he(LNA) is really saying is that he has a lot more that he wants to say and that his patience is limited concerning his smartphones capability and the time it requires for him to effectively argue with you guys. I swear you liberals are on steroids when it comes to hanging Trump. Not that hanging him may not be a necessary lesson that God Himself has prepared for him.

I love the detail and thoughtfully edited expression that you put into your posts. You surely don't type all of this on a smartphone, do you?

Re: Critical thinking warning: Don't let politicians conflate protesting with violence.
After reading the comments of the last few posts by you, PaulK and others, my 2 cent conclusion is this:
A case was made by both the defense and prosecution. Either side had a valid argument, though I favor the prosecution. Trump went out of bounds for good form by an acting president. He was irresponsible.
The defense likely banked on the fact that the Republicans would be split enough that the prosecution would fall short of the 2/3 majority needed. The defense gambled well.
The Orange Menace may resurface in 4 years, but hopefully the voting public will see the light and the fact that they are responsible for choosing better (than him)
Al Jazeera had some inciteful comments from abroad.
‘Political cowardice’: US reacts to Trump impeachment acquittal
and
Donald Trump acquitted on charge of inciting US Capitol riot
Al Jazeera Quotes writes:
  • ...Notably, however, seven Republican senators voted to convict the former president, the largest number of conviction votes from senators in president’s own party for impeachment in US history.(...)The second trial’s outcome was not a surprise as the bar to convict would have required a significant bipartisan vote at a time when the US is extremely partisan — more deeply polarised politically than it has been in decades.
This trial wasn’t about choosing country over party, even not that this was about choosing country over Donald Trump and 43 Republican members chose Trump. They chose Trump, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said following the vote.
  • So the world sees us as a weakened aging empire that is more partisan now than ever before.
Unity or at the very least a consensus will require a lot of hard work, education, and ability to see the Bigger Picture.

    Interviewing the EvC Peanut Gallery
My question is why you appear to be on his side. He was ineffective as a leader.
I will admit that it takes guts to defend Trump on Forums such as this. I would defend him had I any evidence that he was the better choice. I don't. I'm just plain tired of him and don't want him back in any way shape or form.

    LNA writes:
Trump was unique in that he had ferociously fought the entire Republican party to win the nomination.
And over a four year term, Trump proved that he was more than just unique. He was prone to reacting quickly and irrationally. The evidence clearly showed that much. Whether he returns in 2024 depends on a lot of things. Will he have your vote?
As for the future, I see deflation followed by inflation. Percy is correct in that we likely (hopefully) will never see hyperinflation.
I HAVE A HUNCH THAT THE DOLLARS DAYS ARE NUMBERED, HOWEVER. You heard it here first.
What Would It Take For The US Dollar To Collapse?
    Investopedia writes:
Ever since the Bretton Woods Agreement in 1944, other major governments and central banks have relied on the U.S. dollar to back up the value of their own currencies.9
Through its reserve currency status, the dollar receives extra legitimacy in the eyes of domestic users, currency traders, and participants in international transactions.
The U.S. dollar is not the only reserve currency in the world, though it is the most prevalent. As of October 2016, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved four other reserve currencies: the euro, British pound sterling, Japanese yen, and Chinese yuan.10 It is important that the dollar has competitors as an international reserve currency because it creates a theoretical alternative for the rest of the world in case American policymakers lead the dollar down a damaging path. (...) There are some conceivable scenarios that might cause a sudden crisis for the dollar. The most realistic is the dual-threat of high inflation and high debt, a scenario in which rising consumer prices force the Fed to sharply raise interest rates. Much of the national debt is made up of relatively short-term instruments, so a spike in rates would act like an adjustable-rate mortgage after the teaser period ends. If the U.S. government struggled to afford its interest payments, foreign creditors could dump the dollar and trigger a collapse.
If the U.S. entered a steep recession or depression without dragging the rest of the world with it, users might leave the dollar. Another option would involve some major power, such as China or a post-European Union Germany, reinstating a commodity-based standard and monopolizing the reserve currency space. However, even in these scenarios, it is not clear that the dollar necessarily would collapse.
The collapse of the dollar remains highly unlikely. Of the preconditions necessary to force a collapse, only the prospect of higher inflation appears reasonable.
And note that I foresee higher inflation in the future.
None of us have a crystal ball, however.

Which Old Man Is Brighter? Biden or Trump?
True, he does understand the mind(or lack of the same) of a conservative populist. In the documentary I watched regarding Putin and the Presidents, the commentators mentioned that Putin played Trump like a violin. I see Trump as a master manipulator as well, however. He purposefully says stupid things in the press because stupid attracts stupid. It's like spreading out bait for the mice in the woodwork.
Biden used to be quite sharp, but he now doddles around like an old mafia don, as seen in the video of him and Zelensky recently. Though there had been no air raid for days in the Capital of Kyiv, the air raid sirens erupted almost as if on cue. and please understand I am taking no sides here... I'm simply observing the propaganda of the press in regard to Ukraine.

Fox News. Are there alternate news explanations that I missed? I probably should have checked BBC... it's my usual go-to.

I think I'm going to remove Fox News from the news sources that I listen to.
I listen to the BBC, Al Jazeera, CBS News, ABC News, the New York Times, and Newsweek.
No more Fox. I'm a News Hound but I prefer honesty and accuracy over a biased source.

    Re: old news
Personally, I think that at least in the first quote Trump was mocking the progressives. They seem to think that education is unquestionably better than intuition and gut feeling. I have no degrees, but I don't feel that I am stupid. And I'm still waiting to hear why I am "pitiful, pathetic, deplorable, despicable bigoted willfully ignorant, and dishonest."
To be fair, Trump likely knows why he is. I could never live with myself were those words true.

Re: Which Old Man Is Brighter? Biden or Trump?
Let's forget Source for a moment. I can safely throw away all of the "Mafia Don" insinuations since I got them from FOX. I in no way think that Biden is horrible, though someone needs to show me why he is any brighter.(Than Trump) It seems as if though one side vilifies
Russia and the other side see the real adversary as China. One side supports Ukraine and the other side sees NATO and Ukraine as not necessarily their business.
And I realize that the geopolitical argument is not that simple.
I DO know that China is not our friend. Nevertheless, it is far better to attempt to arrive at a consensus with them rather than speak of War. There are NEVER any winners in the game of War.
I respect Anthony Blinken, by the way.

    To Hell With Phat
Whats interesting is the emotions behind your statement. When the Conservatives do it, it is labeled as hate. When the progressives do it, it is labeled as righteous anger.
I don't want to hurt anybody. Im just not in goosestep with a bunch of progressives pointing their finger at conservatives. You can hate Trump if you want and I might even join you. But to paint the entire Conservative philosophy as Fascist is conflating reality. Let he who is without sin among you cast the fist stone!

Whatever happened to Source vs Content? You refused to watch the Content as nwr did but immediately ran to google to find a SOURCE attacking Rickards. Your politics are as set in stone as anyones. The economy is going to fail. Modern Monetary Theory is a failure and a lie. And you conveniently refuse to hear any of the evidence that it is.
Here are two more, saying the exact same thing that Rickards says.

The problem could be that you "educated" people fall for Modern Monetary Theory.
You are in fact the Rubes.
