It's been awhile since we've had some rock discussions but today's Bing wallpaper really interests me. No ide where this is from but I'm hoping one of out far more knowledgeable folk can explain what is seen in the image.
The stark contrast between the story on the right and left must really be pretty simple but I'd love to hear from one of our geologists. My current guess is that the clue to explaining all of this is seen at the upper right side.

All kinda interesting but what I am curious about is the juxtaposition of two so dissimilar formations.
Is this showing an eroded slip fault and are the rocks on the left similar to the very top layer on the foreground right?
