Yeah, so you say, but it didn't happen until you show us pictures.
Lots and lots of pretty pictures.

I can appreciate your concerns. Too many crazies in this world.
I do have a q?
You said your first batch was synchronised while the second was not. Is the difference your selection process, luck of the draw or is there something else that accounts for the difference?

So the asynchronous nature of Aeshna umbrosa is natural while the other four are all synchronous by nature. Are there major differences in environmental niche the 4 inhabit vis-a-vis Aeshna umbrosa? Seems it would have to be if the photoperiod is the determinant.
Unless ...
What is the timeline in the natural habitat for each species? Do they develop at different times during the season? Timed with predation?
What of the possibility that Aeshna umbrosa was late to the evolutionary party and this asynchronous timing was advantageous due to competition?
I'm just spouting.
I'm not a bug guy. I have no idea what I'm talking about. But this is interesting.

Re: Thanks Covid
Ouch!
The bug guys I knew in school were quite adept at improvising equipment because of their penchant to chase creepy-crawlies into dark corners on the spur of the moment. But your professional stuff and the professional results you get from it? Ouch!

Re: Polystoechotes punctata or giant lacewing, not an antlion nor a dragonfly?
refer to birds as "Cretaceous birds" for example, this is a silly
Well if you’re a cretaceous insect or a cretaceous flower you might be on the lookout for a cretaceous bird. However, there are no more cretaceous insects or cretaceous flowers. Their extinct. Have been for some time now. Come to think of it so are cretaceous birds.
Never mind.

Re: Back to Puerto Rico in a week
Theo, didn't you do this last year? Didn't you ask us what pictures we would like to see back then? I know you and Tany are talking dragonfly or damselfly, but if there happens to be a pretty girl just hanging around then pictures would be real nice.
Bon Voyage.
