That is the SOURCE over content issue in a nutshell.
If someone is taught to follow orders unquestioningly, whether it is God's orders or the President's orders or the General's orders or the Sargent's orders or the Priest's orders or whatever the SOURCE it is a destructive policy & practice.
There are of course examples to be found in the Judaic Based Books, particularly where the God character commands his people to do horrific acts and they simply follow their orders but there are also examples in the same Judaic Based Books where the lesson is to question what is said, even if it is God saying it.
The problem arises in all three of the Abrahamic Religions when the members don't actually read ALL of the content in the basic books and are taught only to obey and not to question.
The issue though is NOT purely or limited to religions as pointed out above.
While I dont agree that all apologists are liars or on par with those other creationists you mention, I will allow for the possibility that many of the goats are Biblical Christians and Creationists. (Not ALL, Jar!
Read what is written Phat.
quote:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Present a reasoned argument that shows they were NOT Christians?
You yourself have used science to justify describing the Creator of all seen and unseen as unknowable, which is to me a clear bias against Christianity.
No Phat, stop misrepresenting my position. I am a Christian and so to claim I have a bias against Christianity is just plain stupid.
I use evidence to reach a conclusion including what is actually written in the Bible.
You and ringo also assert scientifically that Jesus likely never existed and that the Virgin Birth is simply a marketing tool. You can say that your argument is unbiased and is simply logic, reason, and reality in action, but the fact that you market the notion that evidence based logic is the cornerstone of your religion and belief while literally showing bias towards organized Christianity and intolerance towards its believers
Again Phat, stop misrepresenting my position.
What I have said repeatedly is that there is no evidence that Jesus ever really existed. Evidence is not the cornerstone of my religion; belief is. What I point out is that it is dishonest to claim something a fact when it is only supported by belief and not evidence beyond the fact that I hold beliefs.
I'm not intolerant of others that hold different beliefs as long as they do not attempt to impose their beliefs on others. When you or others try to claim that the god you create and worship is more valid or real or correct than Ganesha or Buddha or Allah or Ra then of course I take exception.
Remember Phat, the CCoI are not demons and are certainly Christians, just very willfully ******** Christian.
Behe was simply shown to be the carny snake-oil salesman and freak show barker. He was never a demon, just a clown.
Also it is essential to point out that much of Christianity also totally rejects creationism and Intelligent Design so all the evidence shows that Science and Old Earth and Evolution are not atheistic but simply reality.
A pointless debate on a totally irrelevant topic by two aging playground bullies who were legends in their own minds played out solely for the entertainment of those who had already decided the outcome.
