Trump’s wall wasn’t. If you want to talk about some other proposed wall you’ll have to give far more than that. Who objected to it? Why?

Did he? Let’s see the actual quote.

Re: Percy's support for border walls documented.
I think you're one of those people for whom more information just increases the confusion.

my Thoughts on Immigration
The United States needs immigrants because the population would be declining. Normal citizens can't handle more kids due to economic issues (ask a millennial).
The best policy is to get rid of everyone who does not want to be here and replace them with people who do.
There are millions of traitors and subversives that need to be deported and replaced by Central Americans which show far more loyalty.
As for walls, what a joke. First walls don't work, ever heard of the Great Wall of China or the Maginot line. Second, border enforcement is far cheaper and easier using mobile forces in conjunction with air surveillance.
We need workers, not traitors.

The problem with knowing everything is learning nothing.

If you don't know what you're doing, find someone who does, and do what they do.

It ain't what it says it's what readers THINK it says.
This thread is a classic example most often evidenced in the Christian Cult of Ignorance but also in all the other Cults of Ignorance.
It not what is actually written in the source whether that is a CATO Institute survey or the Bible, it's what the Apologists tell the audience it actually says.
We fail to teach people how to read, comprehend, understand, discriminate or even the techniques needed to think.

Re: PaulK started this thread, in post 31, by telling blatant lies.
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 was what built "The Wall" before Trump.
138 members of Congress, most Democrats opposed it.
(The same bill in the Senate was coupled with a path to citizenship, but it hot removed in conference)
Democrats who voted for the 2006 wall law said it was something done to avoid more draconian anti immigration laws. A pragmatic vote for a bad thing.
Ron Paul opposed The Wall, E Verify and Mass Deportation, in a 2015 interview, after Trump announced his candidacy.

Re: It ain't what it says it's what readers THINK it says.
Give an example.
Dont imitate Percy, AzPaul, and PaulK.
Percy and AzPaul flat out refuse to back up accusations.
PaulK started(post 31) by ignoring Percy's pro wall sentences in one post, and he selectively quoted 10% of the words in another post.
He then said that I called the Democratic party an amnesty party.
Then he claims I somehow am calling immigrants offensive names.
HIS bizarre "evidence" is built around 2 lame, dubious pieces of logic:
First is that I simply said "immigrants are deported" instead of "illegal immigrants are deported", so therefore I consider all immigrants to be "illegal".
Yup. That is the extent of his first piece of evidence.
Second piece of PaulK's evidence was my argument with him that poll questions about immigration will always include ALL immigrants, unless otherwise stated. By telling him that Americans understand "immigration" to include ALL immigrants, including illegal immigrants, then I am saying all immigrants are illegal immigrants.
(This site is getting to be a joke. First graders have better arguments!)
Give me your evidence Jar (I almost want to start putting the E word on quotes, around here)

Lamark New Age you do not come off as a bad, evil, or completely stupid person, but there are obvious problems with communication and occasionally logic that just don't cut it round these parts.
Why the ballyhoo about one CATO study when conclusions take far more than a single paper from a Libertarian think tank.

The wall before Trump (votes by member of congress)
I cant link, but here is what to Google
H R 6061 (109th): Secure Fence Act of 2006
Put that into ghb Google with House votes or "Senate votes" to see every vote from every member.
The House vote had Republicans dupport by a 219 to 6 vote, and Democrats opposed 131 to 64.
(Of the then 12 Democratic members from Texas, only Chet Edward's voted for it)
The Senate saw 54 Republicans vote for it and only Linvoln Chafee voted Ed agsinst it. 26 Democrats voted for it, and 17 against.
Sanders opposed it in th Ed House.
Jeffords, another independent, also from Vermont, opposed it in the Senate.
Nevertheless, it is considered a very bipartisan bill, due to the 2/3s supermajority that supported it. Liberals overwhelmingly opposed it.

I agree with that.
To me, LamarkNewAge comes across as nearly incoherent. It is never clear what point he is trying to make. I don't hold that against him -- maybe it's just the way he is, and he cannot do anything about it.
I usually choose to not reply to any of his posts, because it is so difficult to work out what he is trying to say.

Percy called me a racist for my post 6. Percy said I want to cut off "benefits".
But I was expressing my support for BOTH government assistance availability AND higher immigration levels.
All in post 6.
Percy never quoted my post 6.
I challenge him to quote my post 6.
(AzPaul called me a racist while responding to my post 12)
(AzPaul called me a racist but refuses to quote my entire post 12)
El Paso United States Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (successor to Beto) said the El Paso border wall is a monument to division and racism.
I will give you all the words of Percy telling us El Paso "needs" the border wall.
PaulK wont quote Percy, so I will

The state of the wall when Trump took office
There was 617 miles of the wall.
300 miles were simply vehicle barriers, which stopped no pedestrian.
317 miles were true pedestrian barriers.
I am still researching, but the El Paso wall was only around half finished, it seems.
It is hard to get the information from what is poll n the web.

All of them? This certainly doesn’t seem as unified as the opposition to Trump’s wall. Nor have we seen any inherent objection to walls.
