The base was established even earlier.
Trump during his 2016 run repeatedly claimed he could only lose if the election was rigged and went as far as to state he would accept the result of the election ... IF HE WON.

The marketing of the concept that elections are not valid and that the voting is fraudulent were a constant drum beat during the 2016 campaign and even post election.
