I very much doubt that “no Gnostic Christian sect” ever followed that scripture. In fact it looks like the usual excuse to give the leaders sexual access to the wives of their followers.

However, that is a secondary concern. The text says what it says, independent of whether any Gnostic Christian sect actually followed it. Even if it were only to be implemented in “heaven” you could defend it on that basis. But you do not defend what it says.

Indeed, since the text is about “wives” it cannot possibly refer to a situation where there is no marriage. If there is no marriage in “heaven” then the text obviously is not talking about “heaven”.

On the real hero of the bible, the serpent/Satan, you likely know that it was the emblem of the priest class of Judaism and it was also used by Moses himself on his staff.

The medical of the day also used the serpent emblem.

In the myth, without Satan, there would be no story, as we would never have gotten out of Eden to reproduce.

Christians sing of Adam's sin being a happy fault and necessary to god's plan, and that make Satan key to the whole story.

That is why Jews se Eden as where man showed Original Virtue. Christianity when with Original Sin.

What do you get from Eden?

The one figure in all of human history who would by nature define Christ status is challenged by a fleshly and fallible gnostic.

I can prove you wrong right now if you name a short list of those who HAVE attained Christ status.

If you include yourself on the Christ status list, we will all have confirmation that you are wrong. I know im not on the list, and I daresay that Muhammed, Krishna, and Buddha were no closer than Jesus was. So who is on this list???
