Re: Good reasons to be nervous.
But Reptiles are such a fascinating Class of Vertebrates!

But aren't we witnessing before our eyes their devolution into invertebrates? Witness the widespread loss of any spine among them, especially in such notable specimens as Lindsey Graham and Kevin McCarthy.

And ironically it's happening in creationist fashion, in that it's working on the individual level instead of the population level (though their newly acquired spinelessness has spread faster through the population than the Omicron variant ever could).

How about Repellants?

A more descriptive one that I've heard might be "Repugnants".

By the way, snacks and water are illegal in polling places in Texas. And even outside it is illegal to provide water or food even during our summer elections.

This election about 50% of the application to vote by mail are being rejected.

And outlawed drop boxes and required additional identification like a Drivers License or State Issued ID which many people might not even have.

Then just to make things easier they eliminated Sunday voting and closed a significant number of polling places.

Those fuckers have got a lot to answer for, but they are rigging the game so they never will be held accountable or brought to justice.

My wife and I have never mailed our ballots, instead we drop them in the drive through ballot drop-off right at the county courthouse.

The Turd tried to blowup the U.S. Postal Service in 2020, so we wouldn't trust them with our ballots anyway.

We have to take them in directly to the elections office in the county of residence with picture id. Hidalgo County Texas is fair size, about 1500+ square miles with one elections office and over 400,000 registered voters.

I was using that one for years but found it cumbersome and too long. Oh well.

maybe just Repugs is enough.

Re: Good reasons to be nervous.
I was following the pattern Tanpteryx gave with his "Repellants."

What I've heard in the wild is something like "Repugnicans", which makes the connection more apparent.

That should be blatantly unconstitutional, if you can get it to court.

Repugnican has been around for a long time. We used it with Newt Gingrich.

Re: wow
That should be blatantly unconstitutional, if you can get it to court.

It is headed to court, however, the judicial approach has to be carefully crafted to keep a standing in the courts. The US Constitution explicitly gives election law to the states. You gotta have a damn good reason, crafted in legally sustainable language covered in volumes of precedence before you challenge that part of the constitution. "Because it's fair! Because it's right!" are not going to do it. Fair and right are not mentioned in the operative clauses. Besides, the courts, though willing to interpret such rights in favor of citizens in cases of gross disenfranchisement in generations past, the courts may not be so inclined now.

As usual with such things, the Supremes will decide, and frankly, that's not looking so good. A repugnican win there would be a hard precedent on the constitution that will last for decades.

Good thing then that I didn't try to claim having come up with it. Like Trump saying he invented the term, "priming the pump", himself (Yeah, like he would have ever had to work a water pump).
