Re: Link does not go to an article.
Of course he doesn’t link to the article. He wouldn’t want you to read it. He got all pissy about the 538 article when I pointed out the bits he didn’t want anybody to know about.

Meanwhile back in the real world, the second Russian general has been killed in Ukraine. Word is that their communications are no longer secure. And why was a general so near to the front line?

Re: LNA Unplugged?
Wiki writes:
ccording to Christina Petterson, "Politically speaking, tankies regard past and current socialist systems as legitimate attempts at creating communism, and thus have not distanced themselves from Stalin, China, etc."[3]
According to The Guardian, "tankie" has re-emerged as internet slang for Stalinists, used by other leftist Marxists.[4] According to Vice, the contemporary expression is particularly popular among young democratic socialists.[5] Modern tankies generally do not get along with non-Marxist–Leninist segments of the left and many of those who oppose tankies also consider themselves leftists.[6]
Were I to label anybody, I would agree that LNA leans toward the type of Marxism
that was authoritarian and was not as racist or prejudiced as Western cultures were perceived as. I would suggest that LNA is in favor of free global immigration and would like to see all people everywhere intermingle. The reason that *we* do not want that is because it would bite the hand that feeds us. I freely admit to having issues with Marxism and even socialism unfettered because it would bring me down to the level of ringos darling masses trying to level everything out. Im trying to get LNA to open up, but he likely does not want to do it publicly. He thinks that we, being all Americans, prefer a Western form of government rather than a Socialist one. Or some degree of consensus at any rate. Comments? LNA? Anyone?

Comrades In Arms or Despotic Puppets?
He seems quite young to have been a General. Or maybe it's just that I'm so old.

Russian tend to have those round, baby, faces. But yes he's young and yes, we're old.
And I'd be really grateful if we could talk about what's actually happening - people are dying defending their country and a Westerns democracy rather than calling a idiotic, and mostly incompressible, troll names. Perspective chaps, please.

I agree. This war is sad and I feel for the brave Ukrainians and their brave leader.
Mostly I watch war news on either Al-Jazeera or the BBC. I fear that this conflict will embroil the whole world in one way or another, and I just heard that Shell is apologetic about buying crude oil after the sanctions went into effect and pledge to no longer do it. Putin is being pushed into a corner (of his own making, mind you) and Zelensky addressed the MP in the UK.
Ukraine war: President Zelensky speaks to UK MPs. Zelensky reminds me of Churchill.

Probably having a look see. His job, basically. A move this complex, and bungled, needs a lot of attention.

Hey Fermi, We got this.
I have resolved the Fermi paradox. I have settled on the “they killed themselves off” resolution. Aliens had to crawl up out of the muck same as us. Our intelligent-life predecessors in this galaxy had similarly violent evolutions and killed themselves off before they could warn us. Just like we’re doing now.
Human life isn’t difficult enough with this Sword of Damocles hanging over our global climate. Why wait? Go ahead and set the whole damned throne on fire in one shot. So, whether we end in a burning flash after midnight or suffer generations of slow climate decline toward extinction we’re going to be dead before we can warn the next guys.
See? That was easy. Existential dread solves many philosophical problems.

Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

I read the bible.
Wait. That's not right. I can't remember what I was reading but it was dark.
No. That's not it. I think they dropped me on my head when I was little. Must have been from a pretty good height, too.

Re: LNA Unplugged?
We are talking about Marxism.
If there ever was a "Marxist" government, then, like all parties, you would have a "left wing" and a "right wing", and it would be a salient distinction on economic policy. I would be on the "right wing" of the Marxist spectrum. My so-called "Marxism" would be limited to keeping as much land as possible in "public hands" (i.e. the government).
Someday, Africa is at risk to be swallowed up by greedy "land claimers", not that it has not already happened.
I would allow the "western" private land-ownership system to only be able to claim perhaps 5-10% of the African landmass. The rest would be in government hands, and available for future distribution.
I am "Marxist" due to the strict anti-nationalism. All rights belong to all peoples. No national divisions allowed. The strick Marxist-rights have real reeth to them. NO PAPER TIGER "ALL MEN", LIKE THE ESSENTIALLY MEANINGLESS U.S. CONSTITUTIONAL TEXT.
(I care little about the Marxist term "worker". Replace it with "human".)
Lennin was in favor of an urgent world socialist revolution. Trotsky too. They would have been a disaster. Lenin died early enough that the brilliant Stalin too over soon enough. He changed "Leninist" world designs in no time, and thetecwas no time to loose. "Socialism in one country" (Russia/Soviet Union) saved the Marxist nation from being invaded by hostile Western powers who would have felt severely threatened by an ideology that the West already despised.
Stalins purges were probably necessary to keep the Trotskyist lunatics from coming to power. If they did, then Red Russia would never survive long. In turn, Hitler would have not had the Soviet enemy that decisively defeated him.
The world would be living under the German Swastika and many peoples would be extinct.

A Russian response to the war
here
…There was very little belief it was going to escalate – now it seems the same way of thinking got us through Crimea, through Navalny and slow but steady removal of our rights and freedoms, from voting to even mentioning lgbtq+ or feminism anywhere. We lived in hope, worked hard like a racing horse with blinders, achieved – it seemed like – good results in establishing cultural and economic links after the Soviet Union… And it all falls to rubble.
The Russian state is clamping down hard on criticism. Fear is in the air. The effects of sanctions will hurt. Some are leaving, to get away from the looming tyranny. Even if the war stops, even if sanctions were lifted Russia is in a bad place.

CERN pauses future research collaboration with Russia
CERN pauses future research collaboration with Russia at Ukrainian scientists' request
quote:
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) will not enter new collaborations with Russian scientific institutions following a request of Ukraine's scientists to halt partnerships with Russian science institutions in response to Russia's military invasion of their country.
CERN operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world including the famous Large Hadron Collider, which discovered the so-called "God particle," the Higgs boson, in 2012.
Founded in 1954, CERN currently has 23 member states and 7 associated member states; Ukraine is one of the latter whereas Russia is not a formal member of the organization.

Stalinist of course
A follower of one of the greatest mass murderers in history. Not surprised at all.

Re: Stalinist of course
The way he wants to murder anyone who says anything he doesn’t like fits.
The lying to justify it also fits.
He’d have loved Beria.
The mass murder is probably part of the appeal.
