I'm not sure where the other 58,789,105 cases are. (Worldwide cases- recovered-deaths) i think they are still hospitalized cases. They would represent the ICU beds occupied and walking/recovering patient cases at the moment.

I actually have met some alpacas out here in north central Massachusetts at The Red Apple Farm in Phillipston and they got mention in my song about the Farm: you can take a gander at some goats, you can surely see some sheep you can sneak a peek at Popple's alpacas - but they never pack a peep you can move your shoes to live music, you can even go on a hayride an' there's all kinds of other things that you can do in or outside

The point you're missing it that vaccines are often ENOUGH to prevent a calamitous spreading across a population. And trained professionals are busy addressing the viral evolution even as we speak. OK, so among the many reasons, probably more the variation of the accident, but so what? The current work on new vaccines is never 100, but 90 is enough to slow down the rate. Nurses were asked about masking during the flu season and they are for it, even before COVID arrived.
Do you want to lock up everyone that has a contagious disease? No. Perhaps they should properly mask up!
