Re: I saw the movie
I knew that you would respond to me first. The spirit behind your weak intellect which you worship so highly is the same spirit that was in the people who did attempt to kill the Messiah. The fact that He lives today fortunately protects the impressionable young minds from the likes of so called progressive thinkers such as yourself who actually poison the young minds of today by leading them down a rabbit trail with nothing to respect but their own ability which you attempt to give them the right to worship. Sorry, Consequent--I feel strongly about the passion which my Messiah endured, and it is people with arrogant attitudes like you(perhaps?) that allowed it to happen---not anti semetic Christians and not the church or the Jews.

Re: Play nice now
I didn't say that your comment was inaccurate and/or nonresponsive, however I know that you are capable of taking the personal comments from Phatboy and retaliating in a similar fashion.
My intervention was to avoid responses such as:
Message 9 Go read something. Your naive ignorance disgusts me.
Message 18 Do you know how to read?
So I was not higlighting your most recent post, but I could see the discussion deteriorating. But the intervention is a general comment.
AdminBrian.

Re: Play nice now
Thanks, Brian. I DO need to cool off. I have love in my heart for Consequent, but I also have strong passions for my belief. I suppose that to be fair, many atheists are tired of feeling pressure from legislated morals which stem from a Judeo-Christian legacy which attempt to direct their thinking. Consequent, I understand that we should live in a world that is truly free will oriented. Free from restraints and free from direction, allowing popular consensus form the standards rather than following any form of religion. The problem with me is that Humans seem to think that this collective human wisdom is somehow the best source of truth. I respectfully disagree, and I have had some personal experience apart from ancient texts that has formed my Faith. Thats why I get so fired up!

... I have had some personal experience apart from ancient texts that has formed my Faith.
At issue was your basis for finding a latin-speaking, long-haired Jesus, ushered to his gory death by an evil, manipulative High Priest, supported by masses of ugly, virulent, dirty Jews, condoned by a feeble yet sympathetic Pilate plausible. If this assertion of plausibility has an historical basis, reference that history. If, however, these stereotypes are faith-based, then, I repeat, they say far more about you and your faith than about the inherent plausibility of the proposed events - 'clearly it's plausible because I believe it' is a rather underwhelming argument.

Re: Play nice now
Hi CA,
I found this part of your post appropriate:
You saw a long-haired Jesus speaking Latin, a pervasively evil and manipulative High Priest (those damn rich Jews are behind everything), and a weak and thoroughly sympathetic Pilate.
I do not think that there was any particular need for this:
That you found this "plausible" says a great deal more about you than anything else.
I felt that you could have been a bit more tactful here, and this remark is disrespectful. (Rule 3)
Phatboy may not know that Pilate was in actual fact a bloodthirsty tyrant who was recalled to Rome because of his brutality.
But don't you think that he may have been more open to accepting the information if you had simply provided it for him instead of making a personal comment? I feel it was the personal comment that motivated phatboy to respond in the way he did.
Perhaps if you had been a little more friendly and informed him about why these examples are inaccurate it would have urged him to respond in a similar manner.
You have to remember that not everyone has your knowledge and experience in these areas, and rubbing people the wrong way is not a great way of passing your knowledge on.
But as I said, it was a general comment and not directly particularly at your post. It was more of a preventative intervention.
AdminBrian

And I found the statement to be accurant, pertinant, and necessary. As for respect and tact, I do not respect the baseless advocacy of the 'clear plausibility' of antisemitic stereotypes, nor do I find tact warranted in discussing such testamonials.

No more passion
Hi Yaro.
Not one of your more intelligent posts.
I had a feeling that this topic would stray and even after being asked to 'play nice' we still get childish and irresponsible posts.
Time to say bye bye to the Passion.
AdminBrian.
