Re: funerals
I wonder how perfect I'll be at my funeral.
I'm sure you will be the center of attention and not offend any one.

I was thinking that lack of perfection is an achievable goal.

Re: funerals
Be careful what you wish for. To live forever in the perfect mess we've made would be ...

“For I once saw with my own eyes,” states The Waste Land’s ominous epigraph, “the Cumean Sibyl hanging in a jar, and when the boys asked her, ‘Sibyl, what do you want?’ she answered, ‘I want to die'”

One of the young guys
This must be one of the only groups I am part of(online and real-life) in which I am one of the young guys. I turn 60 in July.

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

The important thing is not how long you live, but how well! You young pup!!

Re: One of the young guys
So about a week ago I went over to the local Trap & Skeet club to try shooting clay pigeons for the first time. It was also the first time I've fired one of my shotguns in over 40 years. The shotgun I took is one made by Aramberri in Spain's Eibar region. Eibar has long been known for it's numerous relatively small size firms that made firearms.
I bought the shotgun in 1972 IIRC and back then it cost a whopping $150.00. That was a chunk of change at the time. What was interesting was how many folk saw it as an antique, and quite a few had not been born the last time I shot the sucker.
Anyway, the day was a success and the gun was as pleasant as I remembered and as few clay pigeons were harmed as ducks back 40+ years ago.
Next time I get to go over (the next few weekends they are having 4H tournaments) I take my hand-me-down Winchester Model 12 pump that was made in 1926 or my Remington Model 48 Sportsman semi-automatic that was made in 1949.
And I'll also bring my folding camp stool so I can sit when I am not the one shooting. Being old is a bitch as my back, hips and knees constantly remind me.

Re: Our Putineer
ok, some more updated adjustments:
Yo ho ho! from a Florida dump
Hoist your golf club, here comes Trump
Preparing Mar-a-lago for Vladimir
While we all witness
Trump's our Putineer
Mein Kampf stands on his own night table
He's praising Hitler when he's able
Says he's got some boxes for Vladimir
And we all witness
Trump's our Putineer
The August search by the FBI
Found Top Secret pages marked SCI
Who'd have thought we'd ever wind up here
As we all witness
Trump's our Putineer
And still he milks his cultist's boat
Some may sink but we still can vote
Grab your coat, let's mark our ballot here
As we all witness
Trump's our Putineer
As we all witness
Trump's our Putineer
Trump's our Putineer

Edited by xongsmith, : SCI line scans better
