There are a few reports of the European stance hardening a little against Putin, but it's agonisingly slow. It's really unfortunate that the democratic world hasn't got this together yet, what it's doing - apart from destroying Ukraine and screwing up the world's economy - is telling all the world's despots that you have to have a few nukes, then no-one will touch you.

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

The Times is carrying the same story but noting that they have not been able to verify all the details. But the NYT does not have a reputation for posting things when they feel the story might be false. The Times article only states TWO generals were killed and the fate of fifty officers is unknown. didn't we see Zilensky(sp) already say that they were releasing early propaganda numbers and when it's over they'll release the real numbers? when it was something like 19,000 dead Russians to 2,900 Ukranians? he said it was to keep their morale up.

The More They Change ...
It has been 5 days since russia launched it's restructured campaign into Ukraine. The axis of the russian advance means their forward troops are now outside their ready supply range (Russian tactics gives units 5 days of supply) and will need resupply. It will be interesting to hear whether the russians develop supply problems like they did last month.

There were news reports over the weekend that Belarusians sabotaged trains to hinder the resupply of the Soviet forces headed for Kyiv ( The Belarusian railway workers who helped thwart Russia’s attack on Kyiv). --Percy

The War Reaches Moldova
Tensions surge after breakaway Moldovan region reports attacks; Kyiv blames Russia | Reuters, reports Reuters. There were a series of attacks in Transdniestria, a small region of Moldova held by Russia since the breakup of the Soviet Union. Two Russian radio masts were damaged. And the Transdniestria Security Council reported a "terrorist attack" on one of its military units near Tiraspol, Moldova's largest city. Tiraspol is about 80 miles northwest of Ukraine's Odessa, which is on the Black Sea. There are concerns that Russia might carry out a false flag operation on itself to provide an excuse for an invasion of Moldova. --Percy

Also a couple of fairly major changes from the West The US is becoming clearer on what it wants to achieve "The US pledged to move "heaven and earth" to make sure Ukraine defeats Russia. Austin said "Ukraine clearly believes that it can win and so does everyone here" The US defence secretary said they "want to make it harder for Russia to threaten its neighbours" " And Germany is sending real weapons "Germany's ambassador to the US Emily Haber says that in addition to sending anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, as we've been reporting, Germany will also be training Ukrainian soldiers on German soil."

Russia Threatens to Go Nuclear

Russia says Ukraine war could go nuclear if West keeps sending weapons - CBS News, indicating that it is lowering the bar for what armaments it will permit western nations to provide Ukraine. Previously Russia would not permit provision of highly capable weapons, but now apparently no weapons at all are permitted. Russia informed the west that continued military aid to Ukraine risked nuclear war, a possibility that "should not be underestimated." NATO nation's are "pouring oil on the fire" and risking "World War III." The west dare not risk nuclear war or WWIII, so it has no choice but to cease military aid to Ukraine.[/tongue-in-cheek] --Percy

MAD is still a very likely scenario and Russia as well as all other Nations should be able to see that. Have there been ANY example other that the one instance that could explain a limited nuclear possibility?
