in the early church, all goods were owned in common by the members.
As the Church expanded, that communal system became untenable, except for maybe a few small Christian communities that chose to live that way.
If Jesus preached that all Christians must live in communes and hand over all their possessions and money, that's what the Catholic Church would teach ... but it doesn't, so he didn't.

Re: Which Forum?
How come so many of the Loony Left are atheists?
Is there some kind of link between atheism and madness, do you think?

ALL of the evidence that is the historic behavior of so called theists should be enough to justify anti-theism. And unfortunately no religion, no movement, no government has been more effective at murder, rape and genocide than Christianity.
Estimates of the death toll due to Communist regimes in the twentieth-century are in the range of 60-150 million. Thank you, atheism.
Pol Pot's Communist regime - the Khmer Rouge - was perhaps the most insane and most bloodthirsty bunch of atheists who ever lived. In a mere four years, they slaughtered a quarter of Cambodia's population ... all in the name of "equality"!! The Loony Left strikes again.

Really? What is your estimate of the death toll due to "the Christian Genocide"?

Why restrict it to Christians? Are you trying to claim that Christians are the only theists?

270 million deaths are attributed to Islam. They're theists too by anybody's definition. Except according to Christians, apparently.
Hilarious. You couldn't provide any evidence to support your idiotic claim that "the Communist death tolls pale to insignificance when compared to Christian Genocide", so you moved the goal-posts to Islam.
Incidentally, you can criticize Islam all you like - it's a demonic cult of fear and violence and has been from the very beginning. But which bs-artist gave you the ridiculous figure of 270 million deaths attributed to Islam? That's 50 MILLION MORE than TWICE the number of deaths attribited both World Wars (60 million) PLUS the Spanish Flu (50 million)!!
Are you really that gullible?

But ask any Native American or Druid or any other religious body.
The demise of Native Americans had nothing to do with religion - it was all about land.
As for Druids, please criticize those pagan savages to your heart's content. I have no intention of defending pagan religions, esp ones that practised human sacrifice, which is demonically-inspired.
Of course you wouldn't be interested in the fact that wherever Christianity became dominant, it put an end to human sacrifice and other horrendous pagan customs.

Re: Prayer For The Universe
ringo writes:
Jesus didn't teach infallibility of the Pope but that's what Catholics do.
Peter received the divine powers of authority and infallibility
when Jesus gave him the "keys of the kingdom of heaven" and told him, "whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matt 16:19)
He didn't teach praying to saints but that's what Catholics do.
Jesus told the apostles, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  When the Spirit of t-r-u-t-h comes, he will guide you into all the t-r-u-t-h " (John 16:12-13).
In other words, Jesus did not reveal all his teachings when he was on earth. Rather, the Holy Spirit revealed them to the Church later, in the fullness of time.
The Church is the "fullness" of Christ (Eph 1:22-23) and teaches the faithful the knowledge and doctrines of God (Eph 4:11-14). Therefore the Catholic Church's teachings are the teachings of Christ.
Note: I had to write "t-r-u-t-h" coz otherwise it appeared as"*****". Weird.

For the same reason that "thou shalt not steal", etc. became untenable - believers preferred to believe in the voodoo aspects of Christianity - e.g. the resurrection - and avoid the practical aspects - e.g. loving their neighbors.

Christianity, Judaism and Islam are the three largest of the Abrahamic religions.

They all worship the same God and all claim the others do not worship the same god.

They all use pretty much the same basic texts and practice pretty much the same cultures while each claiming that the other two do not.

Judaism though is the only one of the three that does not emphasis proselytizing and is the only one of the three that was not spread by the STATE and sword.
