Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

What would you do about it?

What is "Federal information"? Is it something like "German physics"? Or does it just mean you don't like governments in general?
Phat writes:
The problem is, I cant get anyone here to actually watch the explanation....
The problem is that you can't explain the "explanation" in your own words which suggests that you don't actually understand it. And that suggests that it doesn't make any sense in the first place.

What the fuck are you talking about?
Our main venue, BRIC House, offers a public media center, a major contemporary art exhibition space, two performance spaces, a glass-walled TV studio, and artist work spaces.
I guess you mean like how we didn't put up with Cuba becoming a communist country and being a puppet of the Soviet Union for 50+ years. Is there anything you are not completely ignorant about?

Re: The War Drags On
You didn't answer my response to your lie, and you didn't respond the previous time you uttered this lie, so this deserves another response. Here's what you did:
Phat (Message 417)"I listen to Peter Schiff, whom Percy has already judged solely on the fact that Irwin Schiff was his father."
Percy (Message 434)Explains why this isn't true
PhatNo answer, but then later repeats the same exact lie in Message 867:
"As an example, you totally vilified Peter Schiff simply because Irwin was his Father."
Percy (Message 868)States that this is still a lie and refers Phat back to Message 434.
PhatNo answer
How long before you repeat this lie again? What is the matter with you? Do you want that you're a lying little shit to be your legacy here?

Re: The War Drags On
It is near hopeless.
Phat constructs he reality out of right wing talking points. And he carries that around with smart phone. Worse still, it is in video, so it seems much more real to Phat than actual reality.

Fair enough. I can now see through careful re-reading that you were right. You vilified Schiff because you saw him as a uniformed fraud who merely tried to plug the gold that he was selling. It is clear, however, that you never listened to any of his shows. He was in fact right quite often.
Look at his latest show, for example. He understands the global macro-economy much better than Janet Yellin or Jerome Powell.
And it confirms what I suspected. The US Dollar is now the global hedge against inflation everywhere outside the US. The dollar has tried to replace Gold ever since Nixon separated the two.

Re: The War Drags On
Thank you for finding the correct information that was there all along.
As far as discussing Schiff, this is the wrong thread. This thread's about the war in Ukraine. In addition, you've proved yourself impervious to evidence, reason and logic, even about your own health, so there's little point in engaging in discussion with you. And if history is any guide, that you've posted nothing about your health recently (unless I missed it) means your diabetes is worsening. The absence of constructive reasoning, for instance again arguing favorably about a gold standard as if everybody and his mother hasn't corrected you dozens of times about it, is consistent with this suspicion.
Understand (unlikely, I know), that it isn't that you advocate for a return to the gold standard that's the problem. It's that you're unable to engage with any of the counterarguments that have been presented to you. Your replies tend to take the general form of, "No, you're wrong about the gold standard, watch this video," or just to pull random unsupported and wild claims out of the video. And you're a real sucker for shyster's claims of how accurate and prescient all their predictions have been.
It is your responsibility to watch the videos and then distill the arguments down for us here. We're not here to debate with a video. And, "But Schiff says..." is the beginning of the worst type of argument ever. Schiff is not Jesus (and Jesus wasn't real, but that's yet another topic). You're using the fallacy of argument from authority, over and over. You have as much evidence for the value of gold as an investment or as a means of exchange as the "Stop the Steal" people do of widespread voter fraud: none.
Didn't mean to get into this. Any replies should be taken to the proper thread.

Although Economics is being fought as a global conflict already, I will defer to your better judgment.
The topic has been relocated. Message 39

The Ukrainian Nuclear Plant at Zaporizhzhya
This has been in the news a lot lately with both sides accusing the others of lobbing artillery shells near the plant and risking nuclear disaster. In the meantime the plant is still being run by Ukrainian technicians under Russian control. The plant fell to the Russians early in the war.
Apparently fearing that nuclear disaster might affect his country, Turkey's president Erdogan just yesterday expressed support for Ukraine and concern about shelling at the plant (Fearing 'Another Chernobyl,' Turkey Throws Support Behind Ukraine). I'm not sure how great Turkey's exposure is - that country is hundreds of miles to the south.
The regions that should be most concerned lie to the east, which looking at a map would be anywhere near the plant, perhaps within a hundred mile radius. But also very concerned should be the Luhantz and Donetsk regions of Ukraine that Russia is attempting to acquire, as well as districts and oblasts of Russia like Rostov, Volgograd, Kalmykia, Yashaltinsky, Stavropol, Krasnodar, and other districts, as well as a significant portion of Siberia. And then there are countries that should have a high degree of concern, like Kazakstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and China. Why all these regions and countries aren't putting pressure on Russia to safely secure this nuclear power plant is beyond me. Or if they are then they must be doing so via very quiet backchannels.

The Ukrainians have been making significant progress in recent days and Russia looks increasingly weakened. I just heard a UK general saying that there's a real chance of Ukraine actually winning this war - not this year though, we're heading into winter.
His opinion though is that in order to get long term protection Ukraine needs to be accepted as members of NATO. I wonder if the West is prepared to go that far.
Looks like I'm going to lose my bet with Percy about Sweden and Norway joining NATO by the end of summer though. It's all gone very quiet on that front.

Donbas
A trap is being rather publicly set in plain view. The Donbas referenda.
Both provinces will, of course, vote (100%) to join with Russia. The Kremlin will consider them as Russian territory. Any Ukrainian push to reclaim it’s Donbas territories will be considered in the Kremlin as hostile Nazi Ukraine invading Holy Mother Russia. Full mobilization, already underway as we have seen, will be the response.
This thing is going to drag out longer and bloodier than it should.
Putin needs to be … retired. In all of Russian history there were only a couple way to retire a Czar. A blade or a bullet. It is well past time for Putin to go.

Putin's talking about nuclear weapons now and calling up 300,000 civilians - he's getting desperate.

And he’s calling up reservists. Hopefully that will increase opposition in Russia.

Missile Strikes Poland
A missile has struck a small town in eastern Poland a few miles from the border with Ukraine, killing 2. Who fired the missile is not known. Some reports say the missile is of Russian manufacture but do not say how they might know that. Some in Poland are calling for invocation of NATO Article 4, which is a consultation article (i.e., not Article 5). Biden has called an emergency meeting of G-7 leaders. Calmer heads seem to be prevailing at the moment.
