Little three-year-old Timmy is taking a bath, playing the "where's your knee" game with his mother. They go through all the usual parts - toes, nose, tummy, neck... and then Timmy notices that he has testicles! "What are these, Mommy? Are these my brains?"
Mommy can only answer, "No, Timmy. Not yet."

It was time for Bill Gates to make the transition from his earthly home.
St. Peter agreed to his guide.Since Bill had been such an important person on earth,St. Peter decided to allow him to make a choice between Heaven or Hell.So Bill was escorted on a tour of Hell,it was not at all what he expected. It was actually a pleasant spot, with good food, and music, entertainment, beautiful women;an all around very fine place.THen St. Peter and Bill toured Heaven;again Bill was suprised. It was a stark and dreary place, very simple and pastoral with only very basic amenities. Bill was not impressed, and so he chose Hell as his preferred destination. A few weeks later,St. Peter paid a visit to Hell to check in on Bill.Bill was extremely unhappy, tied to a post with flames all around him, burning, hungry, and scared. He called out to St. Peter,"Hey,this is not what I expected! What went wrong? How could I have made such a mistake?"St. Peter listened patiently and then replied,"Bill, I'm sorry about the misunderstanding, but what you first saw was only a demo!"

I was bumbling around the Christianlinks.com forum, and I found this example of hyperactive auto-censoring:
quote: Also, I mention the "Terry's Talk Origins" standard of civility:
quote: I believe Joe Meert got the boot for referring to "Creation Science" as psudo-science. I think Percy got the boot for something equally offensive. Moose

Actually, I was banned by Terry without notice because I responded to one of his protected creationists's use of "evilution" with "cretinist". Terry subsequently said that he had not even noticed "evilution" in the preceding thread when he banned me.
Subsequently I was censured for talking about "debunking" a creationist argument as this was considered "uncivil". I assume this is the basis for Terry's warning now not to call something "bunk". However I am familiar with the appropriate noun being "bunkum". Initially I thought it might be a cultural issue. But none of the other (American) board members at the time considered that "debunk" was uncivil. However, as they were not creationists, their opinions held no weight with Terry. I found Terry to be a rather sad, pathetic mentality.

minnemooseus writes: I think Percy got the boot for something equally offensive. The topic was faster-than-light communication. Across a series of posts I explained the same thing in several different ways, each time in response to Terry's inability to understand or often even address the previous explanation. Apparently not understanding most of what I wrote, Terry kept complaining that I was changing my story from one post to the next. I explained that they all said the same thing in different ways, but he kept claiming I was inconsistent. I finally told him to stop whining and start discussing and was banned shortly after. Some time ago I went back to that thread to recover some links I'd posted to SciAm articles, and either my memory is faulty or Terry deleted a number of posts. Terry's board represents a fascinating puzzle type of challenge for evolutionists: can you make your points without getting banned? Ironically, moderation here receives the same accusations of bias as Terry. Naturally we feel we're not biased, but are there any objective measures by which we could establish that? Other moderators here were at the time against this, but I offered a moderator position to Fred Williams and was turned down. I'd offer a moderator position to Terry, too. It would be an interesting experiment. Perhaps someone who's not banned over there can make him the offer. --Percy

Now, this is interesting.
I agree that faster than light communication CAN be discussed but I I disagree completely with wj above. So I had admin status what would I do- It is a problem that having a cup of coffee I hope aliveates for the fall out is in my case has BEEN CRASHFROG and then MARK directing people I wanted to try to talk to away from me. WJ remembers me from another place but I really only post on EVC now as it is too tiresome to deal with the many more anti posts I would get where the level of science is not up as high as here on evC. Thanks, P and other admins....for being here. [This message has been edited by Brad McFall, 03-18-2004]

I generally frown on dragging material in from other boards, but:
Messages 5 and 6, from this topic at Terry's Talk Origins.

I hope aliveates for the fall out is in my case has BEEN CRASHFROG and then MARK directing people I wanted to try to talk to away from me. I'm sorry, Brad. That's never really been my intent. Rather, new folks drop into conversations with you, and upon finding themselves unable to understand you, wonder if they're the only one here so dumb that they can't understand you. After all, none of the rest of us said anything... I'm just trying to show the new people that the reason your cryptic posts ilicit no comment from the rest of us is not because we had no trouble understanding them; it's that we've given up hope of ever doing so. Now, whether or not the new guy chooses to talk to you - and I see that some have chosen to do so, which is good - is entirely up to them. We just don't want them to feel like the only person on the board with trouble untangling your prose. You're clearly an intelligent person with a wide variety of (I'm sure) fascinating opinions. It's just that your unique thought processes may not lend themselves to the translation to text.
