Fantasy and Reality
Assuming for a moment that I live in fantasy, what should I do? I refuse to drink any kool-aid. In my opinion, we have two old-man candidates and two cults. My Niece wants a younger option. My conservative friend says that there is only one truth. Hopefully, he means God and not Trump.

If you want to drink less kool-aid (which is a goal I wholeheartedly endorse, literally and figuratively - thats just too much sugar), you need to critically examine your existing beliefs. Not only new assertions other people make - you have to critically examine what you already believe.
My Niece wants a younger option. That seems more than reasonable, but here we are.
My conservative friend says that there is only one truth. He's right - there is only one truth. The truth is what the facts are. The question is simply how your beliefs match up against true facts...and how they don't. What do you think you know, and how do you think you know it?

My conservative friend is like me in that he believes in Jesus and yet unlike me in that he is pro-Trump.We even disagree on Jesus. I believe Jesus was likely of darker skin tone as many in the Middle East are. My friend believes that He was more white. We do agree that Jesus is the only way to God, Truth, and Life. By and large, my Conservative friends are Christians. I do have some progressive friends who, like myself, are pro-Jesus and anti-Trump.

I figured that this topic would be a more appropriate venue for communication. First off, I really like EvC. I seem to have a lot of good conversations here, though I can be a bit of a troll...it is not my intention. I just disagree with many of you at times and I find that expressing my feelings and beliefs is therapeutic. Percy requested that I drop my political discussion for now, and I agree with him. It drains my positivity and creativity and really does not help me at all. The bottom line, EvC, is that I dont mean to come here to fight. I come to vent. It is therapeutic. Comments?

And that's the problem. You say that you want to communicate. But communication is a two way street. You have to listen to what others say, and to seriously consider their ideas. But you only want to vent. You want it to be a one-way street. Why should we listen to you and consider your viewpoint, if you won't listen to us and consider our viewpoint?

None of the right and/or religious wingnuts we get here want to communicate. They have no desire to discuss. They want to preach. They expect us to accept their lunatic ravings at face value.
