Correct, they are believers and would be called Christians today.The point is it's not what you say or claim, rather did you do as Jesus said, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, shelter the homeless, protect the weak.That is why if there is a heaven it will be filled with Buddhists and Taoists, and Animist, and Atheists but damn few Christians.It's a hard sell and much easier to simply sell 'salvation'.

Of course you could opt out but you can still come over for the Low Country Boils, Crab Feasts, Bull Roasts, Beer Fests, Mud Puppies, Red Beans and Rice, Fish Fries, East Carolina BBQ, Texas BBQ, KC Ribs, Fried Green Tomatoes, Water Mellon, Mush Mellon, Cantaloupe, PawPaws (they are really great, when I was little we had a PawPaw patch), Turkish Coffee, Cuban Coffee, Matcha, even Turkish Delight ...Set a spell and eat your fill and leave when you recover enough to be mobile.Think of the Loaves & Fishes parable. Some of that food sure sounds great, but heaven would only work for me if I'm with my 4 best friends with our cameras and our nets on a dragonfly stream with specimens that challenge our skills to the max every day!

That's the point. But ask Phat if he is a 'True Believer'? Ask USA 1776? Ask Dredge?The point is that a vast portion of today's Christianity, the Saved and Salvation folk, the MAGA group and their answer will be 'Yes, they ARE the True Believers'.

Jesus doesn't divide the people of all nations by whether they were followers but by whether they helped the least, who would be rewarded with heaven. Though the passage isn't explicit about it, also helping Jesus, i.e., what you're terming a "true believer," would not have been held against them.A side note: Contrary to what most evangelicals claim, Matthew 25 says that the peoples of all nations will be judged according to their deeds, not according to whether they accepted Jesus into their hearts as Lord and Master.--Percy

But what I was originally responding to was this in your response to Phat: In Matthew 25 Jesus doesn't divide people into followers and non-followers in the way of modern evangelicals. He addresses the people of all nations, regardless of whether they knew him or not, and divides them into those who will be rewarded with heaven and those who will not based upon the way they lived their lives.I think the message to Phat and candle2 and Dredge and so forth should be that their posts indicate that they may not be living their lives in a way that would be rewarded with heaven. The lack of compassion for the least (migrants at the border for just one example) seems proof positive of that.--Percy
