Hi, I was wondering if this GREAT site, and forum will ever close, because if it does I will most likely be reduced to playing computer games and my source of learning aside from reading, school, will be cut off completely.
I am addressing this of course mainly to the Admin, Percy.
What do you think Percy?

The earth is flat.

As long as the rivers run to the sea...
Besides being an obsessive manic compulsive, I'm having too much fun to ever give this up. But if circumstances required I move on I don't think there'd be too much problem finding other webmasters. Probably the biggest issue would be finding financial support to pay the webhosting company about $540/year. I justify this expense as a hobby (it's cheap compared to my other hobby, tennis, since here in the northeast we play indoors a good part of the year), so if I left some way would have to be found to pay this.
Once I've completed and released the software revision currently under development, I'm considering the possibility of adding completely new boards on other controversial topics. We're already nearly halfway to our current disk space and bandwidth limits, and if these other boards were as successful then we'd need to upgrade to a different webhosting plan, probably in the neighborhood of $1100/year. I'd probably think twice before bearing that expense myself. I've seen some websites that accept donations, but I have no information about how successful that approach is. I've never seen a pay discussion board, and I don't think it would work. So expansion is a question mark at present.
Thanks for the encouragement, glad you're enjoying the site! Love your funky chicken!

Re: As long as the rivers run to the sea...
Thanks Percy! I greatly enjoy these forums as well, I have learned quite a lot from the people who post here. About pay forums though, I know of one that has worked, but I don't think that what they did would work here. The Awful Forums, located at Something Awful: The Internet Makes You Stupid, charge $10 as an entrance fee. They have a different, far more chaotic atmosphere than this place though, and I think that a registration fee would turn new people off from registering for this great community - SA is more of a comedy website with a cultlike (~24,000 members) following. If you were ever hard up for cash, maybe you could accept donations, that might help, or perhaps let members run unobtrusive banner ads at the top of the page.
But anyways, thanks for doing all that you do, this is one of my favorite places on the Internet.

And think all the money everyone else is saving, on not having to buy mind altering drugs.
I look at what's been happening the last couple of days, and now I'm so gone, I haven't a clue of what's going on.

Nooo! Keep the cat!
I love cats, I just wish my apartment didn't have rules against pets...
