Theres billions of atrocities occuring every second.
We all know that.
I wrote a poem that would relay this point easily but about a quarter of you wouldn't appreciate it.
Listen,
I describe how more ppl die than live.
We know that.
I describe how truly blessed you are to see a beautiful life.
We all know that.
Yet when I speak about ppl dying at the hands of stupidity, at the hands of stupid men I get called a whiner.
A brief look at history can be repetitive. It becomes men destroying ppl. And I'm talking about the ppl that get their lives ruined because of others, either because of a bomb or making fun of someone, you know?
So I get called a whiner.
I see "do something about it"
Let me share something with you.
Jesus Christ couldn't change us
Gandhi couldn't change us
Mohammed couldn't change us
Buddha couldn't change us.
What makes you think you can do a better job than Jesus Christ?
Ppl will continue to burn in this hellhole.
I gave it to you, right in front of you, for your bright eyes to see
that's the evidence for an afterlife
because any man or woman that was ever wronged
deserves retribution.
I find it funny hearing ignorant Americans describing a beautiful place, you're sinning against the billions that don't get a beautiful life when you say that.
I wish I could switch places,
I wish I could take the place of a dead Iraqi in Fallujah,
A dead Tutsi in Rwanda,
A dead catholic in Russia,
A dead Jew in Germany,
A kid that's life is ruined form being picked on in school.
It's ruthless. It's unforgiving.
I wish I could take the place of a person that has been wronged more than I for they deserve a better life as much as I, as we all do in an afterlife.

I could have sworn you said earlier that this "hellhole" (aka the real world) isn't worth it to change for the better and that people should look forward to the afterlife rather than trying to change anything now.
That's why I'm going to achieve more than Jesus ever did. Instead of focusing on the there and later, I'll be focusing on the here and now.
So I ask you, please leave the rest of us mortals be. Unlike you, I actually want to help people here and now, thank you very much. Have a good time in your imaginary paradise.
Actually, I'm convinced that people like you were the reason why the dark ages lasted so long.
Before anyone say anything, I just want you to know that if chris is allowed to rant, then I should be allowed to rant to, damn it.

What is the title of your poem Chris?
"Musings of a bigot" maybe?

Hey Chris
Very glad you realize there is room for improvement in this world. That's a good first step.
Remember the admonishion of St. Paul to "Fight the Good Fight."
It doesn't say Fight or Fight Good, or Fight the Fight, but "Fight the Good Fight".
There's not much you can do about Rwanda, Russia or Germany. So look around and see where yoou might be able to actually do something.
First, a few more years you will be old enough to vote. Start preparing now. Learn about what is happening in your neighborhood, your city. Look for candidates that you think might make a difference and then get your little butt out there to help them.
Look at your self. Try to figure out what you can change about Chris that my make things better. Change them. Only YOU can do that.
Fall in love. Trust me on this, the horror of genocide pales to insignificance when compared to the pain and suffering of the first great love.
Most of all, understand the difference between you, your feeling, the world and how the world appears.
The children sat around the fire
huddled together in fear,
as the old man told tales of ghosts.
And,
deep in their wide eyes,
I saw a smile sparkle.

Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Re: >?
Well, you say this:
Jesus Christ couldn't change us
Gandhi couldn't change us
Mohammed couldn't change us
Buddha couldn't change us.
Your bigotry is obvious when you put Jesus top f the list when he really should come after Buddha.
But the most glaring example is here:
What makes you think you can do a better job than Jesus Christ?
To avoid being a bigot you should have included the earlier guys as well.
What makes you think that you can do a better job than Jesus Christ, Gandhi, Mohammad, or Buddha. That would have been the non-bigotted thing to do.
Also, I don't see a dead Palestinian in there.
Brian.

Jesus Christ couldn't change us
Gandhi couldn't change us
Mohammed couldn't change us
Buddha couldn't change us.
They could, and they did. Among many countless others. The human race today is way WAY better off than it ever was before. You should be thankfull for the people you mentioned.

Chris, it may have been years since I've been a teenager, but I do remember how angry I was at the world and everyone in it - especially my family - as well as how depressed I became on occasion. And hell, I had wonderful loving parents who did everything in their power to give me a good life. They succeeded, but I was still angry with them and depressed back then. Can't explain it other than some wicked hormone imbalances.
The thing is, Chris, the world ain't all that bad. Yes, people die every day via old age, murder, accidents, but Chris, death is a part of life. And being alive is a wonderful thing. How else would you be able to meet new people, fall in love, eat your grandmother's cherry cobbler on your front porch, play hide-n-seek, hike to the top of a mountain? Life is good, Chris, but you have to make is so.
If you feel things as deeply as it appears, maybe you should think about volunteering to help the needy, the elderly, the young. Or even write your congressperson to protest something. Start a protest or a movement at school. Dwell on what you can do to help others rather than on what you cannot.
There's nothing wrong with feeling anger and sadness at another person's misfortune, but unless you could have done something to prevent it, you do yourself a great disservice by dwelling on it.

The question is does he WANT to make any contribution to alleviating the problems he sees ?
What he really seems to be concerned about is that it upsets his feelings for people to suggest that there's no afterlife. And he calls that "evidence".

Siddharta Gautama began with similiar feelings
Theres billions of atrocities occuring every second.
Siddharta though personally living a "wealthy" life style found himself feeling in similiar ways to these and this led him to look not for a "belief" that would console but something that he could be convinced was real. Finally watching the phenomena of his experience, his mind, his self something fundamental changed for him. He referred to it as a "turning in the deepest seat of consciousness". Bernadette Roberts experienced this as did Ramana Maharshi and Wayne Liquorman. This is not religion in the sense of a tradition of belief that if followed ones feelings are reassured that eventually things will be alright in a future life.
Rather the non dual experiences of teachers in Buddhism, Advaita Buddhism, Sufism, and certain Christian contemplatives among others point to the possibile of a fundamental transformation of our experience. Religions vary in their support of this and in the end it either happens or it doesn't, but there can be value in exploring it.
If what you seek is the security of a dogmatic certainity and certainly there are those posting here who seem to have found a happiness in their varying religious dogma then the non dual teachings will be unsettling. If you seek understanding I think the insights and teachings of those such as the Buddha, or Ramana Maharshi would be helpful.

Sure I will, and sure it is for us.
I'm talking about the ppl that get fed radiation instead of cherry cobbler.
I'm not blaming my dad because I'm not stupid as he breaks his back working as a laborer and commuter, commuting to the city, his life is making us happy, his dream has nothing to do with himself, but for his undeserving kids.
I like how members like telling long narratives about their pasts when I post
