It is difficult for me to imagine how complex interactive systems like the eyeball could have developed piecemeal, one mutated gene at a time, with each step taking hold as a definite net advantage. Even taking the eye as a spontaneous whole, receiving light would be no use without some brain component that could interpret the signals, but it couldn't develop before the eye itself. Whichever developed first would be useless.

Ok. This eyeball question comes up a lot, so one step at a time. Can you accept bacterial photosensitivity?

Dear Amber, John, is one of the ol' orthodox atheistic evolutionists, who desperately try to keep evolutionism from falling through propagation of non-science, denial of scientific facts, and transparant fairytales. So, all his answers, references, stories, etcetera will be highly biased by a very outdated vision of biology. He will try to convince you of his nihilism, but you seem smart enough to withstand that. Have a nice day, you too John (no hard feelings, I like your excuses) Peter "For a new view of life that is explanatory in all facets: GUToB"

Thank you, PeterB, for the introduction. Couldn't wait to get started on the ole stubborn repetition and baseless assertion, I see. May as well start blowing your own horn right off the bat, that's what I always say. And why bother bother with content, messy stuff that! Hello Amber, PeterB will likely interject nonsense on occasion but that's just the way he is. He also rather likes to accuse the rest of us of commiting his sins. Have a good night, PeterB. May you dream of your own brilliance. BTW, when have I tried to convince anyone of nihilism? Do I even have any? Don't think so. I seem to be all out. ------------------

John, I, for one, have always enjoyed and valued your feedback and input, whether agreeing, correcting or just sharing ideas. And now I learn that you are a nihilistic ol' fairytale-believing, science-denyiny, orthodox athiest creationist?! Say it ain't so, Joe! BTW, could it be: Good Uncle Teddy's Old Boot? -Shiloh

Actually that is "nihilistic ol' fairytale-believing, science-denyiny, orthodox athiest evolutionist?!" Though, I am not nihilistic nor do I believe fairy tales ( or I'd be on PeterB's side ) I am pretty sure I don't deny science. I am not sure what orthodoxy is being refered to and I am not really an athiest but am more agnostic than anything. ------------------

John, Yea, okay, I knew the evolutionist part. (Actually I knew all of it!) The creation reference was a typo of the worst sort, a Freudian slip of the fingers. You do realize that I was lovingly poking fun at PB's earlier characterization? Any connection to UT? -Shiloh

Yeah, I knew you were joking. Sorry, I have no connection to UT. I did my under-graduate stuff at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, about 30 miles from here, and my graduate work at.... well, ok, I haven't done that part yet. My intention is to get into a philosophy doctoral program within a couple of years, preferably one in NJ where my mom and sisters live. ------------------
