Hi,
I know there are some mathy people here so I have a question.
I have a continuous function valid on the x axis within the domain -inifinity to infinity.
I want to calculate the mean value of y, within the range x0 to x1.
How do I do it?
for example, say I have an exponential distribution y=2e^(-2x)
From first principles, how would I go about calculating the mean of the curve between x=2 and x=3?
The function I am using in reality is a bit more complex with loads of parameters, but I am able to differentiate it and integrate it, if that is any help.
Thanks! It's driving me nuts!
