Thread moved here from the Proposed New Topics forum.
I like the POTM Light idea, Archer, but can we set up some guidelines on what an appropriate humerous post is?
Damien turned out to be a spammer, and I followed his trail back to the origin of his e-mail.
Explore this site for some humor. You wil find that Mr. Mackey is quite involved promoting literature, if we can call it that. I never knew that the Catholics had loons as well as the Bobbleheads!

It's been a couple decades, but I think it was part of his pickle song on the flip side of the "Alice's Restaurant" album.

I don't want a pickle.
Just want to ride on my motorcickle.

Goes to show how long some of us have to wait to use a line we've heard. I'm still waiting to be able to use a Redd Foxx line I heard 35 years ago: "I swear to God and three other white men."

Humans wrote the Bible; God wrote the world.

Of course, if Dr. Mortimer's surmise should be correct and we are dealing with forces outside the ordinary laws of Nature, there is an end of our investigation. But we are bound to exhaust all other hypotheses before falling back upon this one.
(Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Gentry's case depends upon his halos remaining a mystery. Once a naturalistic explanation is discovered, his claim of a supernatural origin is washed up. So he will not give aid or support to suggestions that might resolve the mystery. Science works toward an increase in knowledge; creationism depends upon a lack of it. Science promotes the open-ended search; creationism supports giving up and looking no further. It is clear which method Gentry advocates.

speaking of Guthrie...
Don't forget the seasonally appropriate "The Pause of Mr. Claus."
quote:
Santa Clause has a red suit
He's a communist...
Why do police guys beat on peace guys?
The "Why do..." line serves as a chorus, sung in a very Christmas carol fashion.
You can read the lyrics and the long rap he gave about being followed by the FBI (it's hilarious) here.

Real things always push back.

check my memory ...
"he's got long hair and-a beard
must be a pacifist ... "
what's in that pipe that he's smokin?"
"and that's a wonderful thing about america, because in america there is no hypocrisy, and there is no discrimination, cause they'll get everybody ... "
(better be the last one off topic for me, the moose is restless)
Enjoy.

Re: One From dwise One
As I may have have posted before, I think it is about time Arlo (or someone else) revise the great "Presidential Rag" song, originally about Nixon: Presidential Rag lyrics by Arlo Guthrie - original song full text. Official Presidential Rag lyrics, 2022 version | LyricsMode.com
"Nobody elected your family,
And we didn't elect your friends,
No one voted for your advisors,
And nobody wants amends,
You're the one we voted for, so you must take the blame,
For handing out authority to men who were insane"
Does this sound any bit familiar?
Edited by Lithodid-Man, : wrote 'some' instead of of 'someone' in first sentence
