It's time to choose your poster of the year 2005. You have one vote. You can vote for who you think is the poster of the year. I suggest you consider your nomination wisely. Unless there is a different system, then I will assume last years system is in place. One vote means you are instantly nominated and listed thus; " Dudeguy 1 ". If another person voted for poster Dudeguy, thus he would be listed; " Dudeguy 2 ". The winner being the outstanding champion with most votes. Hence you will hear his outstanding yelp from a thousand mile perimeter, and thus run for shelter at the incoming ego-explosion.
I would request that even readers/lurkers come out of lurkdom to vote for this most privelidged and important, historical election.
......Final Standings for 2004
The unofficial Poster of the year 2004 was NosyNed.

Nominees votes
NosyNed 5
Bill Birkeland 2
mike the wiz 2
Percy 1
Crashfrog 1
Rei 1
Truthlover 1
Mark24 1
Sylas 1
Loudmouth 1
Mammuthus 1
Paulk 1
Schrafinator (my vote) 1

Definitly holmes

No smoking signs by gas stations. No religion in the public square. The government should keep us from being engulfed in flames on earth, and that is pretty much it. -- Jon Stewart, The Daily Show

Second.

Dan Carroll
Added by edit:
I'm voting for Dan because I think we could all use a little humour in the midst of this debate. It tends to get too serious sometimes - and Dan always lightens up the mood.

Holmes
Damn, y'all beat me to it!
I agree; holmes has made a very impressive contribution this year.
I recall him explaining, a while back, his reasons for staying here. He mentioned helping himself and helping others. If you happen to read this, holmes, I can't tell you if you've helped yourself, but let me take this opportunity to represent the voice of at least one lurker (well, mostly lurker) in saying that your contributions most definitely are appreciated. I wouldn't dare speak for all the other lurkers out there but I doubt that I'm the only one who feels this way.
Anyway, as usual, I'm rambling. So yes, my vote goes to holmes. Thanks for your many quality contributions, big guy. Please do keep them coming. The lurkers are reading... *cue THX music*

Parasomnium
My vote is for Parasomnium
I'll add that it is a tough choice. There are several runners up.

Help with your decision
I'm glad a few have voted already.
I hope more people vote. Last year we didn't have that many votes, as you can see.
I would advise looking at the Post of the Month topics, for this year, for those struggling to think of who should get the vote.
Remember; This isn't a "vote for my fave guy" competition, lol. I remember the admin were a bit annoyed last year when people started to vote for people who are here for about two weeks a year.
How not to vote: " Dudeguy gets my vote, because he made a funny joke in January and then never came back. "
How to vote: " Shraffguyette makes consistently good posts, that are seldom wrong and contain good sound knowledge. "

Re: Help with your decision
Jar gets my vote because he is consistent, usually has some good folksy wisdom, and seldom gets bent out of shape when not in his Admin mode.

I've just made up a list of who was nominated for Posts of the month between January - May 2005. Honestly, I do have a life.
[rant]Well, all I can say is it's a great lesson in how ambigious people are, so the list might not be entirely accurate but you wouldn't believe how people prattle on about nonsense instead of just freaking nominating a post. Grrrrr.[/rant]

People with no number beside them were only voted for once between Jan-May.

Cavediver. Although he doesn't contribute as much as some, his posts always have a lot of substance.

P.S. It's important to note that there are very good posters NOT on that list. For example, Paul K is a knowledgeable and good poster. I guess the problem is that not many people vote for posts for the month.
Well, it's a statistic, that's all.
