On this bridge, Lorca warns, "Life is not a dream. Beware. And beware. And beware." And so many think because Then happened, Now isn't. But didn't I mention the ongoing WOW is happening right now? We are all co-authors of this dancing exuberance where even our inabilities are having a roast. We are the authors of ourselves, co-authoring a gigantic Dostoevsky novel, starring clowns. This entire thing we're involved with called the world is an opportunity to exhibit how exciting alienation can be. Life is a matter of a miracle that is collected over time by moments, flabbergasted to be in each other's presence. The world is an exam to see if we can rise into direct experience. Our eyesight is here as a test to see if we can see beyond it. Matter is here as a test for our curiosity. Doubt is here as an exam for our vitality. Thomas Mann wrote that he would rather participate in life than write 100 stories. Giacometti was once run down by a car, and he recalled falling into a lucid faint, a sudden exhilaration as he realized that at last, something was happening to him. An assumption develops that you cannot understand life and live life simultaneously. I do not agree entirely. Which is to say, I do not exactly disagree. I would say that life understood is life lived. But, the paradox is, Bug Me, that I can learn to love and make love to the paradoxes that bug me, and on really romantic evenings of self I go salsa dancing with my confusion. And before you drift off, don't forget, which is to say, remember, because remembering is so much more a psychotic activity than forgetting. Lorca, in that same poem, said that the iguana will bite those who do not dream, and as one realizes that one is a dream figure in another person's dream, that is self awareness.

What would you're interpretation of this speech be.
quote:
It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing. - MacBeth
Moreover if you're going to quote from Waking Life I think it would have been polite to say so.

Well, I can see you have no sense of imagination. However, I did no say it was from the film Waking Life in order to avoid pre-judgements, which I can see you have already made. So for some reason, I have taken your perhaps melodramatic comment and added the source of the quote in the introduction.

It would be difficult indeed to avoid pre-judgement, given that you posted something I'd already seen before, and added nothing new that would have stimulated new thought.
If you post nothing but a line from a movie, why on Earth would you expect to get anything but someone's reaction to the movie? If you wanted new thoughts free of judgement you should have posted something we hadn't had the opportunity to pre-judge; i.e. your own original thoughts.

Moderator Request
One of the problems with having rules is that once you start creating them you can't stop. EvC Forum now has a set of ten rules we call the Forum Guidelines. We've stopped at ten, but we have since discovered a few more that haven't been added to the list, simply because we believe that once a list of rules becomes too long, none of the rules will be remembered, or even read.
There is also a set of style guidelines written by Sylas that I seem to have lost track of. At some point I will add a link to it, but I think it may mention some guidelines about editing.
One of the unwritten rules about editing is to leave the content of a post alone for the most part, once it is submitted. Spelling and grammar corrections are not only allowed but encouraged, but it is suggested that the content not be changed. When a post is edited, a short comment should be added about what was changed, e.g.:
Post had mispellings, tpyos, and bad of grammar, so I fixed them.
If I could make another suggestion, you might try participating in discussion a bit more before proposing more new topics. You're kind of slanted too much toward the propose side and not enough toward the discuss side.
Welcome to EvC Forum!
