We have had numerous little tribute/goodbye threads to greats in many fields that have past on.
Here is a thread to consolidate them.

Shine on Crazy Diamond
Syd Barrett, original songwriter for Pink Floyd has died this week of diabetes.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Re: Shine on Crazy Diamond
For all the world an end-of-Romans 7 man. I acknowledge Pink Floyd (up to Final Cut) and Joni Mitchell (I wonder did she ever find love?) in arriving at where I arrived at.
The Lord works in mysterious ways indeed

Re: Shine on Crazy Diamond
It was strange... I was thinking of Syd and the gang and their days at the UFO (not that I was around then!) last night as I watched Sigur Ros live.
And I return home to find that Syd has gone.
But he shines on in many other guises and bands...

Gerald Ford dead at 93
Gerald Ford, 38th President, Dies at 93 - The New York Times
IMHO, one of the greatest presidents of the 20th century. He led the country through a very difficult time and made some very hard choices that he had to know would likely end his political career. He acted based on what he thought was best for the country and not necessarily best for him. A true statesman.

Those who would sacrifice an essential liberty for a temporary security will lose both, and deserve neither. -- Benjamin Franklin

Re: Gerald Ford dead at 93
I absolutely agree about how Ford should be remembered. He was the last honorable Republican president or candidate for president.
